    THE PROMISE:

The extremes of beauty sleep are thus: snoozing with makeup on versus snoozing with an overnight mask on. Reaching peak beauty sleep status requires the latter. Skin goes through a lot while you're dreaming. A whole rejuvenation process happens during which the skin regenerates and repairs itself. At night, your moisture barrier is drier than usual due to water loss, allowing it to more easily absorb products. Like the Sisley Velvet Sleeping Mask, which has a blend of botanical ingredients that nourish and moisturize the skin overnight.

There are three interesting aspects of this mask. First up is the texture, which the brand calls a "cocooning texture that envelops skin in a bubble of softness." Intrigued? Same. That velvety smooth feeling is thanks to saffron flower extracts. Next up is its super hydration levels, achieved via glycerin and vitamin B5, both of which deeply penetrate the skin's moisture barriers. Lastly is its restorative power, courtesy of this mask's shea butter and thyme honey.

    WHY IT'S WORTH IT:

Raise your hand if your pillow has ever been personally victimized by a sleeping mask? If you're done waking up to smeared sheets because your goopy face mask wouldn't stay on, I feel you. That's the past, though, and this new sleeping mask is your future.

I've treaded lightly with sleeping masks because eight hours is a long time to wear a mask. But after squeezing a bit of this on my hand, I knew I had to try it. After cleansing but not drying my skin (leaving it damp helps keep pores open), I used a face mask brush to evenly distribute a light layer of the product all over my skin. My stressed-out skin instantly felt soothed. After laying in bed for a few minutes, I touched my skin out of curiosity, and noticed how quickly my pores were drinking this up.

When I woke up, my usually desert-dry skin felt and looked supple, glowy, and soft. I figured this was the honeymoon phase, and that the benefits of this mask would be short-lived. I was wrong. I couldn't stop touching my skin (I know it's bad to touch your face, okay, whatever) but I was addicted to how pillow-y my skin felt. I didn't even put on foundation because I didn't want to clog my freshly-nourished pores or distract from the natural glow this mask gave me. Frequent flyer tip: The Sisley Velvet Sleeping Mask has become my life-saver after long flights. Trust, the dryness disappears and the glow comes through. A little goes a long way so go ahead and splurge.
