It's an overcast day, and Karlie Kloss' bright blue suit is a ray of light. The supermodel and face of Carolina Herrera's Good Girl Fragrances is here to talk about her new partnership with the fragrance house and Kode With Klossy, which is her non-profit organization that teaches young women how to code. Her attitude matches her wardrobe. "Coding and perfume composition are essentially both special languages," Kloss wrote in an Instagram caption.

Beauty and brains is rooted in the heart of Herrera's Good Girl fragrance, which is Kloss' favorite scent. "This fragrance embodies such a powerful message," the 27-year-old says. "Every aspect of it is about duality and the strength of women, which really speaks to me. It’s about being feminine, but also really fierce and strong, which is reflected in the actual formula of the fragrance. There are sweet jasmine notes, and also an undertone of a spicy tonka bean."

This sense of duality is something the model practices off-duty as well. When she's not busy leading Kode With Klossy or hosting Bravo's Project Runway, she's spending time away from her phone and taking a good run. I caught up with Kloss to learn more about her beauty routine, wellness habits, and the one thing she does every day to combat stress. Here, the six beauty lessons I learned from Kloss.

Make fragrance part of getting dressed.

"Ms. Herrera always references fragrance as an invisible accessory, which really is so true. No matter what you’re wearing when you put your fragrance on it just completes your look. It’s so personal and a part of your aura."

    Exercise to stay balanced.

"I’m really affected by how I feel in my body. When I take care of myself, get a good night’s sleep, and break a sweat first thing in the morning I feel the most centered and present in who I am. When I’m feeling negative, I go for a run. It helps me shift my perspective, clear my mind, and get things back in check. It helps me get out of my head and into my body."

Beauty doesn't have to be complicated.

"With my beauty routine, I like to keep it simple. In the mornings, I like to do lymphatic drainage massage on my face with my hands or a jade roller. On a daily basis, I keep my makeup very minimal."

Don't look at your phone first thing.

"I used to reach over and immediately check my emails, social media, and text messages. Recently, I’ve stopped doing that because it immediately put me in such a place of anxiety and feeling behind. I started not tapping into that until I’ve taken some time to get myself centered and ready for my day. As soon as I wake up, I have a moment of gratitude. I use 30 seconds to take a deep breath, think about my intention for the day, and what I’m grateful for."

    True beauty isn't singular.

"As modern women, we all have such a duality. For me, one thing I really embrace and how I live my life is being unapologetic about who I am. I love exploring different aspects of who I am and my varied interests. I want everyone to realize their own passions and be unapologetic about being more than one thing. You don’t have to fit into one box. You tap into your fullest potential and most powerful self when you're able to embrace all of who you are. "

Self-doubt is human, but there's power in perspective.

"It’s human to struggle. As a young woman in my 20s, I'm still figuring it out. I certainly feel that way at different periods throughout the week, and different periods throughout the month. There’s a saying that if you doubt your power, you’ll give power to your doubts. You control how you feel between your own two ears. I try to do things to combat my negative thoughts. We all have them and you can’t be paralyzed them. It’s important to keep things in perspective."
