Rihanna, Queen of Everything, is once again democratizing her beauty routine. Fenty Eau de Parfum, Fenty Beauty's first fragrance and biggest launch to date, drops on August 10—and we're ecstatic. The icon has been known for her intoxicating scent amongst celebs for years, so this genderless, highly personal perfume couldn't make more sense for 2021. We got a sneak peak at Fenty Parfum, and it's as complex and sensual as you'd expect.

In true Rihanna fashion, creating perfection took time (we're still begging her to drop the album). The singer hand-selected the fragrance's notes in Grasse, France with the help of LVMH Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, who then refined the creamy, heady blend. Some of her favorite notes: geranium, magnolia, Bulgarian rose, and—curveball—blueberry. And just like Rihanna herself, it's in a class all its own; she insists it doesn't fit into a typical fragrance family.

“That's the thing I love the most: it's an experience, it's a memory, encapsulated into a fragrance. One smell, you'll never forget it," she said of the scent.

This foray into fragrance has been years in the making: Rihanna first learned about fragrance from her mother in Barbados, where she worked in the beauty industry. The singer's signature move? Layering multiple scents to create a one-of-a-kind impression. So. while creating her own perfume, she wanted the luxe, amber-brown bottle to be just as individualistic— and there's an important meaning behind its design.

"I wanted a rich color that really represented all genders from all walks of life," she says. "Brown is my favorite color. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I'm going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that."

While RiRi is right in saying the scent it's tough to categorize, fans of creamy florals are sure to love the juice. It's sweet and sexy at first spray, and as it mellows, its geranium and rose notes shine through. Fenty Eau de Parfum ($120) drops exclusively on Fenty Beauty on August 10 (hot tip: you can get a sample on their site with any $40+ order right now) but I would recommend setting an alarm for the launch. After wearing this around town for a few days, I've got a feeling these bottles won't last.
