Hair Diaries: One Curly Model's Journey to Loving Her Dominican-Guyanase Hair

Victoria Gomez's early relationship with her hair was not the best. With a Dominican father and a mother from Guyana, her hair was naturally curly, and she would spend hours routinely straightening it into submission. It took years—and a lot of experimentation—for Victoria to love her hair.

Her saving grace was discovering that sulfate-free products—typically recommended for color-treated hair—made her extra-fragile curls smoother, while still maintaining their shape. Her go-to routine now includes L'Oréal Paris EverCurl HydraCharge Shampoo and Conditioner, and she smooths EverCurl Sculpt Hold Cream-Gel through her wet hair before drying it with a diffuser. Her picks are infused with coconut oil, which gently hydrates and softens her hair, making it way more manageable. Now, not only has her styling time been drastically cut down, she's happier, too.
