I don't always like to splurge on beauty products (I'm frugal like that), but if there's any time of year that I'll give myself a pass to push the limits of my monthly budget, it's the Sephora Savings Event. Healthy hair starts with a clean scalp, which is why I'll most definitely be snagging some of my favorite shampoos. I love a formula that can clean my hair without being too harsh, while also keeping it hydrated. These are my go-tos.
A gripe I have with some shampoos is that I often feel like I have to use half the bottle to get a good lather, but this one gets through my thick hair with ease. It's also much more hydrating than other formulas, and it's gentle on my color-treated curls.
I've never had a bad thing to say about this shampoo. It's a milky formula that lathers really easily, and a small amount is just enough to cover my thick, curly hair.
Mask On
Any hairstylist will tell you that curly hair is much more prone to dryness than straighter textures, which is exactly why I have a cabinet full of hair masks. Whenever I need a big moisture boost, these are the products I turn to.
On top of having type 4 hair, my hair has also been color-treated for the last year. Color has been a little harsh on my hair, so to give it some extra life, I like to use this mask. Every time I use it, my hair feels incredibly soft once I rinse it out, not to mention that the kiwi extract gives it a refreshing scent.
I had this mask applied during a recent hair appointment, and I've been a big fan ever since. Before said appointment, I was dealing with severe dryness and split ends, but this formula added moisture back to my strands while also making my color look much more vibrant.

Again, the key to healthy hair is making sure your scalp is clean and moisturized. These are my essentials for moisturizing and reducing flakiness.
My scalp is prone to dryness and itchiness, often due to protective styling. When that happens, I reach for this cooling serum that soothes irritation while adding some non-oily moisture back to my scalp.
There are two things I love about this exfoliating product. It's a gel formula that utilizes glycolic acid to lift flakes and dandruff from the scalp, and it also features a nozzle that makes application easier.
Style Session
Keeping my curls in check extends far beyond shampoos and deep conditioners—I also have a lineup of styling products that have given me some of the best twist outs of my life.
If I had to pick one product to bring with me to a desert island, it'd be this mousse—it's that good. I typically use it on blown-out hair right before twisting, and it gives my curls perfect definition without flaking or making my hair feel hard and crunchy.
Whenever I'm on the third or fourth day of a twist out and my hair needs a refresh before washing, I spritz on some of this for a little moisture boost.
Hot Stuff
I'd argue that there's no better time to invest in a hot tool than during a major sale. Get these while you can.
I've tried a lot of blow dryers, but this is, by far, one of my favorites. I've used my Dyson dozens of times at this point, and I'm still always impressed by how quickly I can get my entire head of curls dry without having to worry about pulling, tangles, or heat damage.
I don't straighten my hair too often, but when I do, this is the flat iron I prefer. It features ceramic plates, which can be gentler on the hair than titanium, and has a single heat setting (365 degrees) to prevent damage from extreme temperatures.
