Nail trends tend to swing like a pendulum: One minute it’s maximalism (charms, sculptural shapes, entire jewelry boxes glued onto celebrities’ fingertips), and the next it’s a return to the classics (French tips, chrome glazes, delicate details). The top April 2026 nail trends feel like the moment where things settle somewhere in between.

Instead of loud nail art or completely bare manicures, the vibe right now is subtle yet intentional. A sheer base with a few tiny crystals; a pastel shade softened with a milky veil; a hint of chrome that adds a subtle pop without going overboard. The details are small, but they’re adding a little zhuzh to an otherwise basic manicure.

Nail artist Ramon "Prince" Duran says he’s watching clients gravitate toward exactly that balance. “I’m seeing a lot of soft, elevated ‘clean girl’ nails but with a twist—sheer bases with micro detail or subtle dimension,” he tells me. In other words, minimalism isn’t going anywhere; it’s just getting a little more thoughtful. Color is also starting to creep back in after months of darker shades. According to Prince, pistachio greens, matcha tones, milky lavender, and glossy sheer pinks are already popping up during spring nail appointments.

The result is a lineup of April nail trends that feels polished and quite luxurious with a little bit of playfulness seeping through—proof that sometimes the smallest detail can make the biggest difference. Ahead, the six best April 2026 nail trends to try this month, with the polishes and nail art to make the look happen at home.

    Matcha, Maybe?

Matcha is the shade leading the charge this spring. Softer than emerald but more playful than a typical pastel, the muted tea-inspired tone feels fresh. Prince says pistachio and matcha greens are already among the most requested pastels this season, especially when finished with a glossy or milky top coat that gives the color a creamy, almost latte-like finish.

Nail art is still around, but it’s subtler this month. Instead of full crystal-covered sets, April’s version focuses on micro details: a single rhinestone near the cuticle, a tiny gem tucked along a French tip, or a few delicate sparkles placed strategically across the nails. Prince says these dainty embellishments are everywhere right now, often layered over sheer pinks—another trend Prince says is very on-trend right now.

If your winter manicure rotation consisted mainly of maroon, chocolate, and inky tones, April is your cue to brighten things up. This month's nails are leaning into color again, and it’s not just pastels. Think bright blues, pinks, and yellows finished with a glassy top coat.

    Shortie Season

After years of ultra-long almond and stiletto nails dominating Instagram feeds, short nails are making their comeback. Between the rise of “naked nails” and the general shift toward cleaner manicures, cropped lengths are in. They’re also the perfect canvas for this season’s subtle details—letting glossy finishes, soft color, or a single tiny embellishment take center stage

Milky nails aren’t a color so much as a finish, and right now, they’re everywhere. The look is created by layering a sheer, creamy topcoat over another shade, diffusing the pigment so it appears softer and cloudier. Lavender is an especially chic twist this season, turning a standard pastel into something that looks almost luminous or frosty on the nail.

    French Tip Toes

While manicures experiment with texture and color, pedicures are going classic again. French tip toes—the early-2000s salon staple—are making a return this spring. The updated version keeps the lines thinner and the finish glossier, creating a pedicure that feels clean, timeless, yet surprisingly modern again.
