This Beauty Blogger's Powerful Confession Reminds Us: You Never Know the Whole Story

As integral as comments are to the beauty-blogging community, far too often they veer into intrusive, trolling notes. The silver lining? Bloggers are fighting back against naysayers and inspiring change in the process.

First, there was vlogger Bella DeLune, who in response to being shamed by commenters for looking like a "payasa," which is Spanish for clown, devised a cheeky, clown-style contouring tutorial (which yielded decidedly gorgeous results). And now, British makeup artist Jordan Bone is taking some insensitive remarks to task.

In reaction to commenters who would haphazardly write things like, "What's wrong with your hands?!," Bone decided to reveal the truth about what actually happened to them. She became a tetraplegic and wheelchair-bound after a tragic car accident ten years ago.

"To be able to do makeup good enough to show you guys is a massive achievement for me," Bones explains in the emotional video, which is titled, "My Beautiful Struggle." She also says she found YouTube to be an escape from life as "the girl in the wheelchair."

Bringing awareness to the daily hurdles of her condition, she shows viewers what it's like to brush her hair and open up products with her injured hands—struggles she'd previously edited out of her tutorials.

While the commenters who brought on Bone's confession may not have had malicious intent, it's a much-needed reminder for the internet that you never know what's going on behind the scenes.
