Earlier this year, Beautyblender—yes, the genius brand your can't-live-without-it makeup sponge—launched its Liner.Designer: A three-edged, guitar-pick-like guide for creating a perfect line. Why it took me, a hack-loving, perpetually-on-the-go cat eye freak, so long to finally get my hands on it, I do not know. But now that I have, I must share the wealth because having this $16 tool in your corner means never having to slave away, back and forth in pursuit of perfect symmetry, only to end up with two oversized feline flicks.Winged liner may smell fear, but these hot pink edges ensure near-perfect slashes with even the most slippery of liners.
When it comes to putting it into action, it's all about knowing your angles. The rubbery triangle guide has three different sides depending on what kind of flick you're going for: Straight, round, and curvy. To begin, warm it up in your hands for a couple of seconds so it won't slide against the skin, then place the pointed corner on the outside edge of the eye and adjust. As you can see in Beautyblender's guide graphic below, there are many different approaches and you can also use it to prevent smudging as you apply mascara or to guide your lip liner across the natural (or overlined!) lip line.
