From Bartender to Bakery Owner: How One Young Entrepreneur Made It Happen

Many kids of the '80s spent quality time churning out delicious (read: inedible) treats from an Easy-Bake Oven, but not everyone saw it as a future career. For Shareena Casterline, 30, her signature Easy-Bake "Shareena Cakes" were just the beginning of what later became New York City's Madison Street Bakehouse, an online bakery/one-woman-show run single-handedly by Casterline.

With a vision in mind for her bakery and whole lot of hard work, she made Madison Street a reality all on her own—but not without sacrificing sleep, skincare, and her sanity at first. With that days start at 4 a.m. and include 13 or 14 hours of baking, working solo puts a lot of pressure on Casterline to be both business woman and baker for her loyal customer base.

Now in her groove, Casterline has established that a balance of yoga and great skincare keep her feeling like her best self—even on her longest days.
