Will Meghan and Harry Send Baby Archie to an American School?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will need to decide whether or not they want to send baby Archie Harrison to an American or British school. Find out the likelihood of each here.

Baby Archie (not Archibald) may only be a few weeks old, but since he's technically a British and American dual citizen, royal fans have already began to wonder whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will send their child to an American school. The short answer: It's definitely possible. They're going to attempt to raise Archie as normal as possible, which means an exclusively British nursery school may not be the obvious option for him.

"The Sussexes have established something of a pattern of doing things their own way, and so it’s very possible that we could see them break the mold when it comes to educating Archie," Katie Nicholl, royal reporter and author of Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss, Love, tells MarieClaire.com. "Harry went to Eton, which he didn’t love, and so he may not want Archie to go there. I think they might choose a co-ed school and possibly even an American school. I’m told Meghan is keen to ensure that her culture and heritage is reflected in the way they bring up their son. Archie will celebrate Independence Day and Thanksgiving along with the major British festivities and holidays, so there is every chance they could be considering an international school."

If you look at where and when royal children have attended school in the past, Prince George, 5, began at Westacre Montessori School at two-and-a-half years old. Princess Charlotte, 4, attended Willcocks Nursery School at the same age, and Prince Louis, 1, will likely follow in Charlotte's footsteps, according to Town Country. Prince William and Prince Harry were the first generation of royals to stray from tradition and attend an actual nursery school, rather than being homeschooled at Buckingham Palace.

It makes sense the Cambridge children attended British schools (their parents are, well, both British!), but they are still interacting with non-royal children every day. Only time will tell what Harry and Meghan ultimately decide for baby Archie.
