A source close to the couple talked to People about the state of their romance (which Emilio recently publicly confirmed in a gushing Instagram tribute to Katie for her 42nd birthday).
"They are having fun," the source said. "Emilio has had a lot of stress this year because of the shutdowns that have affected the restaurant business. Katie is very supportive. Their relationship is cheering him up."
So what does the future look like for Katie and Emilio? Apparently he's super optimistic about things, but the source thinks Katie will have to play it more by ear once she starts working again after quarantines are lifted.
“Since Katie is not working, they have had time to really get to know each other,” the source said. “Emilio thinks their relationship will continue to be strong in the new year. When things return to a more normal and Katie is working again, they will figure it out. For now, they enjoy all their time together in New York City."
Emilio confirmed the relationship for the first time this month in a birthday tribute post for Katie, writing that she is "the most amazing, kindest, beautiful person" and "every time I see your face it makes me smile" before declaring his love.
