Karrueche Tran Talks 'Claws' and Living Life Through Her Character's Secret Instagram

In Claws, TNT's new unapologetically raunchy dramedy produced by Rashida Jones (about nail salon staffers with more than just manis on their minds), Karrueche Tran plays the girl you think you love to hate. Spoiler: Rooting for her is way more fun.

Marie Claire: Tell us about Claws and your character, Virginia.

Karrueche Tran: The show is based around five very different women who work in a nail salon in South Florida. Really, it's a show about women and how powerful they are. They all have a badass attitude and are out there killing it, doing what men can do, only better. And Virginia? She's an extrovert—and an ex-stripper.

What I love about Virginia is she's human just like all of us. We all have our struggles; we have our things that we grow through. She's a little fucked-up in the head, but we all are. I have a secret Instagram for Virginia: @thequeenvirginia. It's not a promo for TNT—it's me actually living through her character. You know when there's a meme or something you see online, and you're like, Oh, I want to post that! But no, it's too much, it's too much? That's Virginia.

MC: How would you describe Virginia's style?

KT: She's really trendy. Her problem is that she wears all the trends at once. She's a bit of a hot mess. And she's on Instagram all day.

MC: Your first manicure—go!

KT: Remember when you were a young girl, and you'd go to Toys "R" Us and they'd have those kits with plastic kitten heels, stickers, and a little nail polish? It had to be during that time. I thought I was grown!
