HBO Just Confirmed When 'Game of Thrones' Will Return for Its Final Season

Game of Thrones fans, rejoice! HBO just confirmed the series will return for its eighth and final season. The *slightly* bad news? You'll have to wait until 2019. Yes, 2019. (Cue the sighs.)

While Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, accidentally revealed the news earlier this month, this comes from HBO itself so it's *official*, unfortunately. No word on the premiere date yet, but there is one aspect that was made clear: all of the season 8 writers and directors will be men (another long sigh).
