Jessica Alba And Gabrielle Union Play 'How Well Do You Know Your Co-Star?'

Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union have been making space for themselves in the world of television and film for decades. Way before Union starred as Isis in Bring It On or Alba was a badass Dark Angel, the two had been making the rounds in Hollywood—on shows like Sister, Sister and The Secret World of Alex Mack—and before any of us knew it, they were household names.

Now, the stars are teaming up for L.A.'s Finest, a spinoff of the Bad Boys franchise, in which former DEA agent Sydney Burnett (played by Union) heads to the LAPD. There, she's partnered with Nancy McKenna, Alba's character, who is originally thought to be timid, but ends up surprising everyone. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, you can expect lots of shoot outs, catching of the bad guy(s), and stellar power suits that will inspire your work wardrobe.

I have to take a minute to say how awesome it is to watch a show in which two women of color are co-starring as the leads, with both characters fully fleshed-out and well-rounded. We still have a long way to go towards equality, but this show is a major step in the right direction. It's evidence that women of color can carry their own shows (as proven on How To Get Away With Murder and Killing Eve, too), and deserve to be invested in. Thank you to these incredible women for opening the doors a little bit wider for those to come.
