On Sunday night, the moon gave the world a once-in-a-generation show. There was a rare combination of a supermoon and a lunar eclipse, giving the moon a red tinge and giving the whole phenomenon the catchy hashtag of #superbloodmoon. Usually, a supermoon happens when there's a full moon and it's the closest possible distance to Earth. And a lunar eclipse happens when the moon, Earth, and the sun are lined up so that the moon is in Earth's shadow. Sunday night was a rare combo; the last time there was a "blood supermoon" was in 1982, and the next time it's set to appear is 2033.
