Surprisingly, These Are the Shows That *Actually* Get Binged the Fastest on Netflix

When a new season of Orange Is the New Black gets added to Netflix, we all assume that everyone cancels their plans to binge the entire thing in a day. (Just us?) Turns out, it might be.

Netflix has released a new report called The Binge Scale, which ranks its shows by how quickly people burn through them. They analyzed global viewing of 100 serialized TV shows and found that the genre has a lot to do with how quickly people hit "Keep Watching." According to the company, some shows get "savored," and people will space apart their episodes and watch less than two hours each day, while some shows get "devoured," and people just can't pull themselves away, watching more than two hours each day. Savored shows were completed in an average of six days, while devoured shows only took four days to finish.

Thrillers, horror shows, sci-fi series, and action-adventure stories are more likely to be "devoured," which makes sense because they leave you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next. On the opposite side, comedies and dramas are more likely to be savored, since they leave you thinking and might even take more out of you emotionally, leaving you in need of more time to breathe between episodes. According to Netflix, episode length didn't have any impact on how quickly shows were binged; shorter comedies like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were actually more likely to be finished more slowly than longer dramas.
