Selling Sunset season 8, which premiered on Netflix on September 6, 2024, marked a turning point for the franchise. Even before the season premiered, cast members like Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani began speaking out online, publicly criticizing their co-stars and producers after they saw the new episodes. Once the season dropped and viewers got the chance to chime in, the online chatter about the show—and new tea from the cast's press run—began to eclipse the show itself.

After season 8, for the first time in Selling Sunset's history, the future of Netflix's reality TV juggernaut is truly in question. Will the Oppenheim Group realtors put aside their slights to film together (and let the slights play out onscreen)? If not, which of the stars will take their final bow? We're keeping track of all the news on Selling Sunset season 9 below.

Has 'Selling Sunset' been renewed for season 9?

Despite fan concerns that the series was coming to an end, Netflix quietly renewed Selling Sunset for season 9 in November 2024. According to What's on Netflix, Amanza revealed the news on TikTok, sharing a fit-check video with the caption, "And we're back. #SellingSunsetSeason9."

Before season 8, Netflix had established a practice of renewing the hit real estate series for two seasons at a time (see seasons 2-3, 4-5, and 6-7), and filming back-to-back. Still, Selling Sunset is one of the streaming giant's biggest shows, so odds were high that it would be back for more episodes.

When will 'Selling Sunset' season 9 be released?

Netflix has confirmed that Selling Sunset season 9 will debut on Wednesday, October 29, over two years after season 8 arrived on the platform.

As reported by Variety, Selling Sunset's ninth season will see "new faces bring new feuds into the Los Angeles real estate market. As the pressure turns up in their personal and professional lives, some might not have what it takes to keep their seat at the brokerage. As the landscape in Los Angeles quickly changes, everyone will have to adapt to a new reality.”

Which of the cast will return for 'Selling Sunset' season 9?

Netflix has confirmed that the season 9 cast of Selling Sunset will include Chrishell Stause, Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, Mary Bonnet, Amanza Smith, Nicole Young, Bre Tiesi, season 8 addition Alanna Gold, and Brett and Jason Oppenheim.

Which new cast members are joining 'Selling Sunset' season 9?

Sandra Vergara, 36-year-old sister to superstar Sofía Vergara, will be the latest realtor to join the Selling Sunset office. Before entering the luxury real-estate world, Sandra also acted and served as an E! host and entertainment personality.

According to Tudum, the multi-hyphenate entered The O Group already familiar with working in high-stakes environments. "I’ve always had an eye for design and a love for people, so combining that in real estate just clicked," she said. "I’d seen [Selling Sunset] and always thought the women were incredibly dynamic. But being on the inside now, it’s a whole different level of excitement.”

What will 'Selling Sunset' season 9 be about?

According to creator Adam DiVello, season 9 will pick up right where season 8 left off, and bring some "unexpected twists [and] jaw-dropping moments." He told Tudum, "There was a lot of strife in the office and a lot of hurt feelings, so we pick up and try to get past that as quickly as possible and into new stories."

A quick recap of season 8's drama: After several seasons of feuding, Chrishell publicly declared that she would no longer film with Nicole after Nicole accused Emma Hernan of sleeping with a married man. Speaking to Extra in September 2024, Chrishell said at the time that she would not continue on the series if Nicole remained a cast member.

“I will never work on a show with her again," she said of Nicole. "After eight seasons and seeing someone systematically try to plot against several people...Why are we giving her more airtime? The audience doesn't want to see this or hear this. When somebody’s just hungry for camera time and lies, the audience is over it."

Though Selling Sunset initially began filming last November with both Chrishell and Nicole among the cast, TMZ reported in January that Nicole had been "put on pause" after an explosive incident at an all-cast dinner, involving Nicole, Chrishell, and Emma.

Nicole later confirmed the pause in a statement to Us Weekly. "I had a call with production two days ago during which they told me I have absolutely not been fired from the cast, but they chose to pause my filming schedule until next week in order to protect me from situations on set that had become very contentious,” she told the outlet on January 23. "I’m still debating whether or not I want to continue filming in this kind of environment, especially with so many infuriating double standards."

In a second statement on April 13, Nicole confirmed that she will be part of season 9 in some capacity. However, she did not reveal whether or not she had resumed filming. "You will see me," she told Us Weekly. "I don’t know how many episodes. I don’t have any deciding factor over that, but yeah, I’m absolutely in 9."

Meanwhile, Chelsea protested the possible addition of Amanda Lynn, a real estate agent and friend of Bre, who revealed the news that Chelsea's husband, Jeff Lazkani, was cheating. In a September 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter), Chelsea referenced Amanda's previous tweets that had recently resurfaced, writing, "Made it clear and putting it in writing, if racist Amanda is on the show as a cast member. I’m out."

In a September 2024 interview with Us Weekly, Amanda said that she "wishes the whole situation was done differently," and apologized for her tweets. "I regret any engagement with harmful language over a decade ago, and it doesn’t reflect who I am today," she said.

Amanda also told the outlet that she currently doesn't plan to join the series. "I’ve never spoken with them about joining. So who knows what will happen," she said. "I’m just really focused on my career. I love where I’m at. I focus and just keep my options open. I’ll say that.”

Bre Tiesi also found herself in hot water with some of her co-stars. In a Cosmopolitan UK interview, she revealed that she has "no idea" where she stands with Chrishell since season 8 was filmed. She said, "I don't have problem with Chrishell at all, I just haven't spoken her."

However, per Reddit, Chrishell shared in a Snapchat QA that she was no longer friends or on speaking terms with Bre. Though Chrishell remained coy, she mentioned the ongoing lawsuit that Bre is facing. According to PEOPLE, Bre was sued in April 2024 by three of her former employees, who claim that they were "subjected to inappropriate and violent behavior" and "harassed, discriminated against, and/or retaliated against on the basis of their sex, gender, and/or sexual orientation" by the realtor, per the court filing. In the most recent update to the case, provided by Us Weekly, the plaintiffs accused Bre of refusing to appear for a deposition.

Is there a trailer for 'Selling Sunset' season 9?

You bet there is—and it's juicy! Much of the feuds that have festered off-screen between seasons 8 and 9 are alluded to in the clip to give fans a taste of what to come.

The trailer begins with Jason Oppenheim telling Mary Bonnet, "I know there's still factions and frictions, but if we can focus on real estate, this is our best year ever." While there may be $21 million homes and deals to be made in "billionaire paradise," solely focusing on real estate seems like a far cry for the O Group with all the drama floating around.

The clip touches on how much Chrishell "fucking hates" Emma's boyfriend, a fight between Nicole and Amanza seems to be brewing, and Bre seemingly brings up her tension with Chelsea when she says, "Friend is a loose term in this office." There's a fiery dinner party in which the women are cursing each other out, mentions of a robbery, and a "new energy" in the office with the introduction of newcomer Sandra Vergara. By the looks of it, season 9 will be well worth the wait!
