As a fashion editor by profession and someone who dabbles in all types of purchases—high, low, obscure, etc.—I have experienced countless cases of buyer's remorse, indifference, and pride. As you can guess, the latter is what you want to experience after spending money on something.

There's nothing I enjoy more than when someone compliments me on an item and I can tell them I've had it for a number of years and worn it more times than I can count. And, not to brag, but I have a pretty good track record of *mostly* loving my purchases well after the fact.

So, what's this rant all for? I've rounded up the luxury buys I don't regret purchasing (just in case you're in the market for a splurge). From designer bags to linen shirts, this is the ultimate list for someone looking to play it safe this season or beyond. Keep scrolling to shop and read my take on each item that made the cut.

    1. Summer Dresses

BONDI BORN + Net Sustain Menton Organic Linen Mini Dress

BONDI BORN + Net Sustain Menton Organic Linen Mini Dress
    $575 AT NET-A-PORTER

While trends come and go, certain staples stick around forever. That's the case with summer dresses. I originally bought this dress in blue (I'm wearing it in the photo above), but recently picked it up in white too, because I love it so much.

SIR Clemence Halter Open Back Dress

SIR Clemence Halter Open Back Dress
    $520 AT NORDSTROM

I've had my eye on this because it can easily be dressed up or down all season.

    2. Leather sandals

    Hermamp;egrave;s Oran Sandal

    Hermès Oran Sandal
    $700 AT HERMÈS

Similar to dresses, leather sandals are a luxury buy you can wear again and again. I've worn the same Hermès Oran pair for nearly seven years, and they show no signs of slowing down.

    Tory Burch Patos Leather Sandal

    Tory Burch Patos Leather Sandal
    $258 AT NORDSTROM

I just got these for an upcoming trip to Capri and can confirm they live up to their Nordstrom reviews.

    3. Designer jeans

Rag amp;amp; Bone Wren Raw Hem High Waist Ankle Slim Fit Jeans

Rag Bone Wren Raw Hem High Waist Ankle Slim Fit Jeans
    $225 AT NORDSTROM

Now, I'm not talking about Chanel denim here—though that would be nice, too—but jeans by contemporary-level designer brands like Agolde, Slvrlake, and this Rag Bone pair that I've been living in lately are often the most-used items in my closet so I like to spend a little extra on them.

    AGOLDE + NET SUSTAIN #039;90s mid-rise straight-leg organic jeans

    AGOLDE + NET SUSTAIN '90s mid-rise straight-leg organic jeans
    $220 AT NET-A-PORTER

This wash is seasonless, meaning you can wear it year-round.

    4. Quality belts

    Khaite Benny Suede Waist Belt

    Khaite Benny Suede Waist Belt
    $420 AT NET-A-PORTER

I'm going through a belt phase right now. However, this is an accessory it's important to have on hand for styling. I have this Khaite belt in black, and while I rarely buy the same thing in two colors, I'm thinking of snagging this brown one, too.

    The Row Effi Leather Belt

    The Row Effi Leather Belt
    $720 AT NET-A-PORTER

I love this sculpted buckle. It makes a statement but is still wearable.

    5. Luxe sweaters

    Khaite Lucy Cashmere-Blend Cardigan

    Khaite Lucy Cashmere-Blend Cardigan
    $1880 AT NET-A-PORTER

A strong sweater can make an outfit, and if you buy a good-quality one (and take proper care of it), it can also stick with you for the long haul. That's why I'm always snagging them on sale. Even if they're not necessarily for the current season, I know I'll use them later.

LOULOU STUDIO Bruzzi Oversized Cropped Wool and Cashmere-Blend Sweater

LOULOU STUDIO Bruzzi Oversized Cropped Wool and Cashmere-Blend Sweater
    $210 AT NET-A-PORTER

I have a few sweaters from this brand and wear them in the fall, winter, and spring.

    6. Black leather shoulder bags

Gucci Jackie 1961 Small Leather Shoulder Bag

Gucci Jackie 1961 Small Leather Shoulder Bag
    $2950 AT NET-A-PORTER

If you want to splurge on a designer purse without the fear of regret, choose a black shoulder bag. You'll never get over it, I promise.

The Row Half Moon Leather Shoulder Bag

The Row Half Moon Leather Shoulder Bag
    $1390 AT NET-A-PORTER

This and the above Gucci Jackie bag are two of my most used purses for day and night. I can't imagine ever getting "over" them.

    7. Linen shirts

    Reformation Will Oversize Linen Shirt

    Reformation Will Oversize Linen Shirt
    $128 AT REFORMATION

The best thing about this luxury item is that it doesn't need to cost a fortune. One of my favorite linen shirts is from Zara, while another is from Reformation. This season, I'm eyeing the HM style below. I wear them on their own, open as a top layer, and often as a beach cover-up.

    Hamp;amp;M Linen Shirt

    HM Linen Shirt
    $35 AT HM

The reviews for this 100% linen shirt say it all.

    8. Coordinating beachwear

    Camilla Floral-Print Voile Pareo

    Camilla Floral-Print Voile Pareo
    $239 AT NET-A-PORTER

Nothing will make you feel fancier when on vacation like wearing a matching bathing suit and cover-up. And, if I've learned anything from raiding my mom's closet, it's that a good set is forever. I live for this brand.

    Shop the matching one-piece.

Missoni Mare Asymmetric One-Sleeve Crochet-Knit Mini Dress

Missoni Mare Asymmetric One-Sleeve Crochet-Knit Mini Dress
    $890 AT NET-A-PORTER

I would say Missoni is always a goal.

    Shop the matching bikini.

    9. Raffia totes

Loewe + Paula#039;s Ibiza small leather-trimmed woven raffia tote

Loewe + Paula's Ibiza Small Leather-Trimmed Woven Raffia Tote
    $790 AT NET-A-PORTER

They don't go out of style and make every outfit more interesting. Plus, they are lightweight and practical for everyday and vacation use.

Khaite Lotus Medium Leather-Trimmed Raffia Tote

Khaite Lotus Medium Leather-Trimmed Raffia Tote
    $1850 AT NET-A-PORTER

Have you gathered that I'm a little obsessed with everything Khaite?

    10. Wearable Rings

Cartier Juste un Clou Ring, Small Model

Cartier Juste un Clou Ring, Small Model
    $1410 AT CARTIER

I love wearable gold and silver rings because you never have to worry about whether or not they go with your outfit and can keep them on as a part of your daily wardrobe. I have a different version of the above Juste un Clou ring, and it's one of my favorite pieces.

Stone and Strand 10-Karat Gold Diamond Ring

Stone and Strand 10-Karat Gold Diamond Ring
    $565 AT NET-A-PORTER

You'll never get bored of this. You'll also never have to question whether you should wear it.

    11. Little black dresses

16Arlington Blaise Strapless Crepe and Satin Mini Dress

16Arlington Blaise Strapless Crepe and Satin Mini Dress
    $470 AT NET-A-PORTER

Similar to bags, if I'm going to splurge on a dress, it's usually black and something I feel I can get a lot of use out of. This strapless mini, for example, is something I could see myself using over and over again.

Staud Artistry Off-The-Shoulder Stretch-Knit Mini Dress

Staud Artistry Off-The-Shoulder Stretch-Knit Mini Dress
    $295 AT NET-A-PORTER

    Consider me blown away.

Manolo Blahnik Callamu 50 Elaphe Mules

Manolo Blahnik Callamu 50 Elaphe Mules
    $875 AT NET-A-PORTER

I've never ever regretted buying a pair of Manolo Blahniks. However, there are countless other brands with timeless styles you'll love as much and for as long.

Saint Laurent Kiss Patent-Leather Slingback Pumps

Saint Laurent Kiss Patent-Leather Slingback Pumps
    $995 AT NET-A-PORTER

No one does edgy yet classic like Saint Laurent.

    13. Everyday jackets

    Loewe Paneled Denim Jacket

    Loewe Paneled Denim Jacket
    $1950 AT NET-A-PORTER

Depending on the season, my jacket is essentially my outfit, so I like to invest in styles I really love. When you find the right one, you'll never want to let it go.

    Vince Stretch Cotton-Blend Jersey Jacket

    Vince Stretch Cotton-Blend Jersey Jacket
    $345 AT NET-A-PORTER

I can see myself wearing this all summer and into fall with everything from dresses to jeans to trousers to shorts.

    14. Timeless watches

    Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31

    Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31
    $5650 AT ROLEX

If you're looking for an heirloom, look no further than a timeless watch—no pun intended. They make the perfect gift (for yourself or a loved one), and the options are endless, so you can get something that feels like you.

Cartier Tank Louis Cartier Hand-Wound 22mm Small 18-Karat Rose Gold Watch
    $26900 AT NET-A-PORTER

Some might call this style iconic, and I would wholeheartedly agree.
