Starting a new year always comes with resolutions, moodboarding, and a re-evaluation of goals and dreams. I’ve realized some changes take more than one year to really take shape, especially while on my own wellness journey: Over the last five years, I’ve made a steady decision to really redefine what health looked like for me, and what was once something I put on the back burner is now center stage.

I started by making it a point to work out consistently and find a rhythm with my physical health I never knew in my 20s. At the beginning, I was knee deep in a heavy work schedule, always stressed about a deadline or a photoshoot that really required strenuous amounts of effort, both physical and mental. So, I would start my day at a workout class like Session or SoulCycle, before my focus went straight to business.

During the pandemic, I worked my way up to strength training and biking periodically. Plus, living in a walkable city, I routinely walked more than 10k steps daily. I gained and lost 20 pounds, learned I had a hormonal imbalance, and simply tried to find what works for my body. I’ve really started to listen to it, especially when it comes to stress, taking note of my exhaustion levels and adjusting my workout routine to how my body was changing. I became less of a gym warrior, and moved in ways that made sense for me. Now, I walk about four to five miles daily, and take pilates and strength training classes four times a week. My body is less sore, but it’s strengthening and maintaining shape steadily.

I also developed strong preferences when it comes to workout wear. Right now, I’m really big on comfort, fit, breathability, and organic materials. I find myself in workout clothes longer than usual, and want something to fit well, be good for my skin, and hold in all my curves. Ahead, discover my current favorites.
