I’m a Luxury Personal Shopper—4 Spring Trends I'm Recommending to My Clients

Spoiler: a lot of Matthieu Blazy's Chanel.

Spring feels like a lifetime away. This winter has truly been unhinged. (I cannot wait to wear open-toe shoes. Or even a ballet flat. Is that so much to ask!) My clients are on the same page, so I thought it would be fun to do a column about what I’m recommending and being asked for in terms of spring dressing. Hopefully it provides some inspiration for the remaining months of this torture. And if you live in California, I envy you. So. So. Much. Right now.

Starting with my favorite spring trend this season: I’ve been seeing a big sporty influence everywhere. My Hirshleifers clients are loving the nylon jackets and shorts from Saint Laurent and the Miu Miu technical skirts, sneakers, and striped polos. I think it’s a really fun way to make a more serious silhouette feel youthful and playful. I got the Saint Laurent jacket myself and cannot wait to wear it in the spring.

Next: I will always get behind a big, bright oversized button-down, and I’ve been seeing a lot of that on the runway. A personal favorite was Chanel’s take, and the look in particular was the light pink shirt paired with the voluminous burgundy skirt. That color combination is living rent-free in my head. I will immediately be recreating it.

Dying to say this one: Florals...for spring...groundbreaking. I know, I know. But a really good floral acts like a neutral. I am absolutely in love with the Khaite spring floral. The deepness of the black in the print really grounds the look and makes it super easy to style through seasons. I also love the Valentino look that walked the runway and I’ve had a lot of requests for that specific look.

Finally, I’m all for the texture stories this season in handbags. Some standouts are from Bottega, obviously. Matthieu’s Chanel. I am obsessing over this yellow tweed. It feels so fresh.

And Loewe is always a favorite. I think the contrast of a suede bag mixed with a sheer dress is really beautiful and unexpected for spring.

If nothing else, let this be permission to start planning your outfits for warmer weather. It’s rough out here, our psychological survival depends on it.

See you next month xx
