    In Buying Guides

We've officially entered that confusing time of year when the sun disappears by 5:30 p.m. (I don't want to talk about it) and the weather can't seem to decide which season we're in. Especially in L.A., where some days I'm reaching for a light sweater, and others I'm blasting the AC and wearing shorts. But as temperatures start to actually cool down for good, I've had to confront a harsh reality: Staying warm usually means compromising a good outfit. And I simply refuse to let an unflattering puffy jacket ruin my looks again this year.

With a trip to NYC on the horizon (and my tendency to start shivering the moment it dips below 65ºF), I need cold-weather essentials that are as stylish as they are practical. So, I went straight to The North Face. I've owned one of the brand's jackets for years, and it's still in near-perfect condition, so I already trusted the quality. But its latest drop genuinely surprised me. Think modern silhouettes, elevated earth-toned neutrals, and plush textures that enhance a cold-weather outfit rather than overpower it. Here are the styles currently sitting in my cart—each one proves that it really is possible to stay warm and look good doing it.

    Must-Haves for the Season

With L.A.'s weather in constant flux, layering is nonnegotiable. These cozy fleeces are in my cart for that exact reason—they're soft, wearable, and just as good on their own as they are under a heavier layer.

I want outerwear that feels warm and polished without being bulky. These bombers and parkas have the structure, insulation, and muted tones that elevate a cold-weather look instead of working against it.

    Luxe Accessories

I've always believed that accessories complete an outfit, but in the winter, they can actually carry the look. A coordinated hat, glove, or scarf helps bring your whole look up a notch, making it feel more composed.

    Refined Winter Footwear

I have a couple of trips coming up where I'll be experiencing real winter (as in snow and near-freezing temperatures), so I need shoes that are warm but still look intentional. I have to say, these are the most stylish cold-weather pairs I've come across.
