Tonight marks the official end of New York Fashion Week, which means one thing: it’s time for a trend recap. The S/S '27 season marks a major pivot in beauty trends. You can retire blush and slick back buns—it’s all about eyeliner and partless low ponytails now. The simple, short manicures in 20 shades of nude that dominated most of last year? Well, it’s all about almond-shaped extensions in the boldest color you can imagine now. If 2025/2026 was focused on glass skin and bobs, then 2026/2027 is all about the eyes and mermaid waves.

NYFW beauty trends can often feel a bit unattainable—as much as I love a teased updo or black lipstick, I’m not wearing it to work. But this year’s looks are actually very wearable and incredibly easy to recreate. I’m rounding up my six favorite trends from the week—along with some expert tips on how to get the look and what to use below. Only time will tell whether these trends will carry over into London, Paris, and Milan, but for now, happy scrolling.

Lip Gloss Lids

As a staunch shimmer shadow girl, I’m thrilled to see this trend take off. Here’s the TLDR: take a slightly opalescent shadow—in the color of your choice—and then put a thin film of clear gloss on top. If you’re sensitive to the tacky texture, try using a glitter pot (my favorite is from Bodyography) to achieve a wet look.

Partless Perfection

If one thing was glaringly clear on the runways, it’s that hair parts of any kind are dead. Stylists went to whatever means necessary to hide any sign of a scalp. Some were slicked back; others were teased to a degree that I'm sure made brushing a terrifying experience. Message was received loud and clear: no side parts, no middles parts, no parts at all.

Lots of Liner

Liner is to 2026 what blush was to 2025. Looks ranged from inner corner moments and tightlining to traditional cat eyes. What’s worth noting is the color experimentation: black eyeliner is almost too basic to have real estate in your makeup bag this year. Reach for a gilded shade or a neon hue to switch up your glam for the new season.

Low Ponytails

Beauty Director Hannah Baxter is very much into the low ponytail trend; I personally need a little time to shed my middle-school trauma. It’s a very Olsen twin aesthetic, and with an expertly layered haircut and a chic ponytail cuff, the style has a cool girl vibe. Even Grace Gummer and Shailene Woodley got on board with the look at the 2026 Emmys.

No Mascara Makeup

It’s apparently time to give our lashes a break. Pop on a red lip, a glowy foundation, and give your lashes a good curl before heading out the door. If you can’t get on board with bare eyelashes, take a little Vaseline and brush it on after curling—it’ll help hold the look, even sans mascara.

Almond Nails

Short and square had a good run, but the trend cycle is officially flipping. The longer and pointier, the better. I'll be sticking to press-ons, but if you have strong nails, go forth and conquer with a nail file and and your favorite polish. As for colors? Earth tones are dominating in fall, but don’t be surprised if you start seeing cobalt blues and rich purples.

Since her early editor days, the Marie Claire editor-in-chief Nikki Ogunnaike has enlisted one "low-effort, high-impact styling trick" every New York Fashion Week: "party pants" paired with a plain-Jane top. Fast forward to Spring 2027's season, and celebratory statement skirts are the new failsafe style on every editor's Fashion Month mood board.

Patterned, textured, and shade-drenched skirts have popped up on celebrities, fashion insiders, and showgoers alike. Where typical trousers or grab-and-go shirtdresses might've previously filled the NYFW seats, anything-but-neutral skirts sat in the front rows.

Skirts in every length, from mini to maxi, came in polka dot, plaid, and floral prints, making guests unmissable as they zoomed from one fashion event to another. Even Ogunnaike tapped into the trend, tucking a deep plum T-shirt into a tomato-red leather skirt before the Tibi showcase on Sept. 12.

Much like Ogunnaike, NYFW guests grounded the "out-there" skirt trend with everyday basics on top. Think: neutral T-shirts, simple sweaters, billowy button-downs, and even graphic tees. That way, party skirts could embrace their "life of the party" persona without competing with another maximalist must-have.

Apart from occasional pops of color or split-toe Tabi sightings, fashion people wore their daring bottoms with relatively understated shoes, too. On the off chance a showgoer doubled up on prints, textures, or tints, classic silhouettes (heeled ballet flats, knee-high boots, or Mary Janes) restrained the bold look.

Decorative elements ranged from colored leather and 3-D embellishments to fringe, feathers, and beads. There wasn't a leading length among fashion editors and enthusiasts either. While midi skirts exuded more "I mean business" energy, sidewalk-sweeping maxis brought a boho-chic charm to the cityscape, and minis were the ultimate party pieces (great for the after-hours circuit).

The trend caught the most attention in the front row. At Carolina Herrera, Camila Mendes tucked a timeless black turtleneck into a leopard-print maxi (matched to a clutch in the same pattern). For the '60s-inspired fit, the Riverdale actor opted out of "party" accessories, slipping on black kitten heels, a matching headband, and pearl earrings instead.

Minutes later, Jasmine Tookes and Pamela Anderson arrived at the Carolina Herrera soirée in floral-print skirts. First, the supermodel shade-matched her tomato-red turtleneck to the calla lilies on her asymmetrical pencil skirt. Meanwhile, Anderson wore the same top with an embroidered midi that looked more like a flourishing garden than a piece of clothing.

That's not to say the statement skirt trend was confined to the pre- and post-show style crowds. Inside Lincoln Center, for its spring 2027 collection, Carolina Herrera's Wes Gordon showed elevated evening-out skirts adorned from waist to hem in a conversation-starting print of some sort.

Over on Prabal Gurung's catwalk, Spring 2027 skirts didn't just play with proportions and shades. Some of the most interesting slips were partially transparent, too. On Sept. 14, LaQuan Smith got in on the statement skirt fun, dressing models in as much animal print as possible.

And just like that, New York Fashion Week has come to a close, but this season's street style trends can (and should) live on in your autumn wardrobe.

For the past few years, the slick back bun has been the staple updo of basically every stylish woman on the planet. If you had enough length to slip your locks into a snatched bun, effectively delivering a temporary face lift (and likely a headache as well), then you—plus a pound of gel and an army of flyaway wands—did it. You could wear a slick back to anything from the office to a wedding, and no one would blink twice. Such is the power of an exceptionally sleek updo with zero frizz in sight.

But according to the New York Fashion Week runways, many a street style star, and numerous Hollywood A-listers on the 2026 Emmys red carpet, the ubiquitous bun is facing some competition, in the form of disheveled low ponys and messy, loose updos. Is this a sign that the era of the slicked-back bun is over? Perhaps. I know that I will still turn to a sleek and taut style when I need an elevated hair option for an evening event, but for my everyday life, I'm kinda sorta opening myself up to a less severe look for the fall.

Ahead, three low-maintenance, high-style hair looks I spotted all over fashion week to try out this season, especially if you're hoping to give your hair and scalp a break.

Low, Loose Pony

Once relegated to third, fourth, or even fifth day hair, ponytails have officially stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight over the last few years. From Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders to the Hollywood elite, it appears that everyone has embraced a snatched, bouncy pony for a statement-making look. But for the fall 2026 season, and into S/S '27, designers, starlets, and the street style crowd have discovered a taste for a far less glamorous—almost humble—style: the low ponytail.

Yes, the idea of tying back your hair in a rush, with a handful of face-framing pieces and the rest nearly tumbling out of whatever closure you had on hand was once best left to the Olsen twins—at least if you wanted to capture any semblance of style. But after combing through pages and pages of street style photos and fashion show wrap-ups, it's clear that the low pony has gained some serious footing in the sartorial realm. I mean, even Grace Gummer, bonafide Hollywood royalty, eschewed the typical red carpet blowout in favor of a barely-there ponytail for the 2026 Emmys.

Disheveled Bun

If you still love a bun hairstyle, I don't blame you. Some days you just need your hair off your neck and not falling all over your shoulders. But if a super tight slick-back gives you a migraine just thinking about it, you're in luck because this season's most stylish bun trend is all about a slightly disheveled look. No need to turn to a wax stick to shellac down those baby hairs—let them fly free for a pretty, Renaissance-style effect.

I'm particularly into the side bun situation at Diotima S/S '27, which saw models with all different hair textures walking the runway with plentiful flyaways escaping their artful updos. I'm considering adding this style to my day three hair inspiration board when I simply can't be bothered to slick back my hair for hours. Bonus points if an accessory is thrown in there, like this chic silk scarf moment I spotted between New York Fashion Week shows. Nothing like a bit of an unexpected accent to accompany your messy bun.

Relaxed Half-Up, Half-Down

A favorite hairstyle of the Biebers and Jenners of the world, the half-up, half-down saw plenty of airtime during NYFW, with many a street style star wearing the look for the New York shows. Like the low, loose ponytail, the hair wasn't gathered with a ton of tension or frizz-eliminating products; rather, the effect felt effortless and devil-may-care in a super refreshing way.

Whether you're sporting braids, waves, curls, or otherwise, letting your natural texture shine is the move for the upcoming season, and honestly, it helps keep the half-up, half-down style from feeling too youthful or grade school-coded. If you need a bit of extra zhuzh to your hair, especially if it's thin or fine, reach for a sea salt spray or texturizer before sectioning it into the top and bottom.

So while I'd wager a guess that a slick back bun will always remain a mainstay in the hairstyling repertoire, I am encouraged to try out some different options for the foreseeable future, especially since I'm desperately trying to minimize hair loss at the moment (the tension of a slick back can lead to traction alopecia!). And honestly, anything that allows me to embrace frizz and flyaways but still feel like the hottest version of myself is just fine by me.

Bella Hadid missed Coach's Spring/Summer 2027 runway show at New York Fashion Week, but that didn't stop her from celebrating the brand's 85th birthday. The supermodel waited until September 14 (the fifth day of NYFW) to deliver her present: Hadid's everyday bag endorsement of the Coachtopia Alter/Ego.

It's been two years since Hadid's latest NYFW appearance (her horse show was the Spring 2024 circuit's unofficial grand finale), but her sister, Gigi Hadid, has been holding down the fort. Last week, the Guest In Residence founder opened Tommy Hilfiger's spring fashion show in the street style scene's leading color trend.

The Ôrebella founder announced her arrival in New York in a perfect-for-fall layered look, featuring a white T-shirt as her foundation, the flannel shirt trend, and a brown suede jacket. She paired the trio of tops with cuffed dark denim, a tomboy trucker hat, white socks slipped into Uggs' Classic Ultra Mini Boots, and Coach's slouchy shoulder bag.

Both the boots and the bag felt especially on-brand for Hadid, but let's start by breaking down the patchwork shoulder piece, shall we?

Saving her Coach Brooklyn, Chelsea, Empire Carryall, and Tabby Bags for another day, Hadid debuted the newest addition to her ever-expanding collection. The New York-based brand's sustainable line, called Coachtopia, designed the single-strap style out of "soft leather and suede scraps left over from the making of Coach bags."

The $295 zip-top tote's mismatched exterior makes it one of the most unique purses in Hadid's closet, second only to the Alter/Ego Hobo Bag crafted from the same recycled checkerboard leather. She showcased the latter back in Oct. 2024.

As for her boots, it's no surprise that Hadid wore Uggs while traveling to NYC. Over the years, she has worn the brand's shearling-lined shoes inside too many airports to count.

Much like her Coach Alter/Ego, the Classic Ultra Mini seems to be a newcomer to her shoe rack. She has previously styled the Classic Ultra Mini Platform, the calf-length Classic II Boot, and the Classic Micro. Hadid stayed loyal to the brand's signature chestnut shades.

This New York Fashion Week, brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Diane von Furstenberg, Cult Gaia, and Tory Burch aren't the only ones painting the town red. Outside the Spring 2027 runway shows, fashion insiders, editors, and celebrities have transformed the street style circuit into a sea of strawberry, crimson, and tomato.

It's tradition for a hue or two to emerge as New York Fashion Week's top color trend. Back in Sept. 2025, it was all about the burgundy. Last February, showgoers at Fall 2026 fêtes boarded the chocolate brown bandwagon. Now, whether guests are wearing head-to-toe tomato or splashes of scarlet, there are as many red pieces running rampant around NYFW as there are spectators.

The red takeover tiptoed its way into Manhattan on the eve of NYFW, popping Elle Fanning's leather pencil skirt at Coach, Ella Hunt's uber-buttoned blazer, and embroidery on Cynthia Erivo's military jacket at Ralph Lauren. (At the same time, Rachel Comey introduced fire hydrant-tinted hosiery and Cult Gaia traded beige for red bralettes.)

Once the official Day 1 of spring 2027 runway showcases began, the pigment became the not-so-subtle superstar of pre- and post-show step-and-repeats. But which shade came out on top? The perennial color (endorsed by Alaïa, Balenciaga, Hermès, and more for Fall 2026) that remains as popular today as it was in 2023 is tomato red.

During NYFW last September, Katie Holmes paired a ripened Metier purse with matching high-vamp flats. Fast forward to the current calendar of events—which run from Sept. 10 to 15—and you can't walk a single block without shifting your attention to an unmissable shade of red on billowy blouses, steamed polo shirts, and wedding guest-worthy dresses.

That's not to say tomato is the only Fashion Week-worthy red. Before Tommy Hilfiger's spring runway show (which sprinkled the color onto rugby shirts, button-downs, boat totes, and even baseball caps), A-listers proved every tone of the color trend has daily dressing potential.

First up? Camila Cabello, who shade-matched the sweater draped over her shoulders to a knitted mini skirt. Soon after, Lana Condor tested the same Kendall Jenner-approved layering hack by wearing a strawberry cable-knit cardigan with a white T-shirt, a navy blue jacket, and wide-leg jeans. Peep the same eye-catching color on her manicure.

Once the first model graced the New York-based brand's catwalk, Gigi Hadid reminded spectators that red has always been her shade. (Her own knitwear label, Guest In Residence, is constantly adding tomato attire to its catalog—and therefore, the founder's regular rotation.) She opened the Tommy Hilfiger show in baggy bottoms that matched the brand's logo.

After all 69 looks walked the runway (most of which featured at least a sprinkle of red), an off-duty Hadid was photographed outside, wearing a vintage Tommy Hilfiger baseball tee in an almost identical dye.

On Sept. 11, when the NYFW spotlight switched to Michael Kors, the color trend took over the VIP-filled front row. So much so, it seemed like the revered New York designer made it his dress code. Everyone from Kathryn Newton and Ashe to Gabrielle Union and Lisa Rinna frosted themselves in the fresh-from-the-garden tint.

There's no doubt that Union and Rinna wore the most red, though. While the Bring It On actor stacked a tomato sweater-turned-shawl over an identical sweater dress, the reality star posed in a knee-length ruby look that was more feathers than actual fabric.

Meanwhile, deeper shades of red offset the overwhelming majority of tomato attire.

If the red street style series is this ripe in September, it's bound to be a successful holiday season for the shade. Translation: Now's the time to test the compatibility between your personal color palette and garnet, strawberry, russet, and, of course, tomato. New York Fashion Week S/S '27 is winding down in NYC, and unsurprisingly, the street style set has not disappointed. Editors, creators, and buyers are rushing all around Manhattan (and parts of Brooklyn) to view the upcoming season's collections from buzzy designers like Henry Zankov (who made his debut as the new creative director of Diane Von Furstenberg), Daniella Kallmeyer, Jamie Haller, Maria McManus, Tory Burch and more. As a beauty editor, my eyes are always trained on the hair and makeup moments, especially for the attendees outside the shows, and I'm happy to report that the best street style beauty looks are offering up plenty of inspiration.

Although the New York weather has been behaving itself, the crowds proved that updos are having a moment, specifically chignons—both messy and sleek—braided pigtails, and all variations of the ponytail. Bare skin is also a common sighting this season, with radiant complexions on models and show-goers alike. The occasional pop of color on the lips is another welcome addition to the fashion party.

Actor-turned-director Megan Park's Prime Video series, Sterling Point, has it all: family drama, teenage angst, a spicy love triangle, and, best part, looks from Chanel. On September 10, five weeks after the season premiere, the French house invited on-screen sisters Ella Rubin and Amélie Hoeferle to their Fashion Month soirée.

The New York Fashion Week newcomers looked like regulars at the launch party of Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu in SoHo. Rubin, who plays Annie, the teen drama's 17-year-old New York It-girl, channeled her character's minimalist closet in a silky little black dress. Her stylist, Emma Jade Morrison (who also works with Kaia Gerber, Sarah Pidgeon, and Zoey Deutch), paired the V-neck slip style with black-and-white cap-toe pumps: a Chanel staple as classic as the Première Watch she wears in the show.

Meanwhile, with help from her stylist, Bailey Moon, Hoeferle matched Rubin's energy in a lustrous LBD of her own. The spaghetti-strap slip boasted the same black satin sheen, except with a balconette bust and an elongated shoe-shielding skirt. Both co-stars accessorized with matching Chanel bags: Rubin's was a top-handle, north-south tote, while Hoeferle chose a quilted flap clutch. Chanel-branded goodie bags doubled as cool-girl accessories, too.

Rubin and Hoeferle have almost 10 years of acting experience to their names, but Sterling Point, their biggest project yet, slingshotted them onto the fashion scene. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of high-profile fêtes, but through it all, timeless LBDs have stayed by their sides.

While promoting Season 1, Rubin visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a similar vintage Prada dress, its liquid-looking satin adorned with subtle, blink-and-you'll-miss-them rhinestones. Instead of cap-toe pumps, the 25-year-old tapped into the peep-toe mules trend beloved by Monica Barbaro, Katie Holmes, Dua Lipa, Emily Ratajkowski, and more. Once again, she wore almost no jewelry.

Also during her Sterling Point days, Hoeferle traded her character Ramona's tomboy everyday basics for elegantly chic silhouettes. For instance, at the show's premiere in NYC, the 24-year-old showed off the pockets in her otherwise embellishment-free Proenza Schouler dress. Instead of frosting herself in diamonds, Hoeferle slipped on Manolo Blahnik stilettos and a bold red lip that you wouldn't find in Ramona's makeup bag.

As recently as Ralph Lauren's Spring 2027 runway show on Sept. 10, Hoeferle arrived in a going-out formula fresh from Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's '90s closet: a boatneck LBD, pointy black pumps, and an east-west bag carried as a clutch. Even her blond hair's subtle wave resembled the New Yorker's less-is-more philosophy.

Summer 2026 was a big one for burgeoning actors-turned-trendsetters. First, Off Campus introduced us to Ella Bright and Mika Abdalla, who could join the NYFW street style circuit any second now. Then, Elle proved Lexi Minetree is so much more than just Reese Witherspoon's mini-me in the Legally Blonde prequel. Now, with Sterling Point renewed for another season, there's no telling what lies ahead for Annie and Ramona. But off-screen, they're certainly up-and-comers to watch.

Shop Little Black Dresses Inspired by the 'Sterling Point' Co-Stars

Black dresses with unconventional cut-outs are like fashion catnip to Dakota Johnson. Over time, they've become her favorite way to show some skin, especially when the Valentino creative director, Alessandro Michele, is involved. Sometimes, the slits line up perfectly with the trendsetter's tattoos, but on September 10, her Valentino dress's neckline framed a witchy diamond necklace instead.

For Johnson, New York Fashion Week began at the Kering Foundation's fifth annual Caring for Women Dinner, where she rubbed elbows with Salma Hayek Pinault, Simone Biles, and Pamela Anderson. Following the unofficial black-tie dress code, Johnson's stylist, Kate Young, chose a cloak-style Valentino gown with billowy bell sleeves, a sequined hood, and a carpet-sweeping skirt. The most statement-making design details were the front-facing cut-outs, though.

Her necklace—the Desert Bloom ‘Wild Moon’ from Messika—was perfectly placed in the diamond-shaped hole that stretched from her collarbone to below her bust. Almost like a picture frame, the gap highlighted the 19-carat crescent moon pendant that dangled from a diamond-encrusted chain. When it was still available, the statement necklace sold for $121,900.

For the rest of her accessories, the Materialists actor stayed loyal to designers like Zoe Lev, Jessica McCormack (the London label behind Zendaya's engagement ring), and more Messika. According to her stylist, Johnson slipped Valentino's Enigme Satin Pumps beneath the dress's train, but the gold-heeled stilettos remained hidden.

In true Johnson style, this wasn't her first witchy wardrobe pull of the week. To celebrate the launch of the Valentino Vendetta perfume on Sept. 9 in L.A., she sourced the Italian label for another custom dress. The long-sleeve style, with its thick satin choker and velvet cape, drew inspiration from a Fall 2026 silhouette.

On the runway, Valentino filled the torso's negative space with a double-moon lariat necklace. But Johnson opted out of the crystallized collar, the pink satin gloves, the purple tights, and the tomato-red Rockstud Stilettos. She instead styled the look with black-and-gold Lisa Eisner earrings, a Jessica McCormack pinky ring, and black Valentino pumps.

It's beginning to look a lot like long-sleeved season again, but that's not to say your fall fashion can't show any skin. This is your sign to experiment with cut-outs the Dakota Johnson Way: select an otherwise timeless evening dress with enough open space for a show-stealing sparkler or two.

For Eckhaus Latta, major fashion collaborations with beloved mall brands marked the beginning and the end of summer 2026. First, the New York- and L.A.-based label debuted an unconventional warm-weather wardrobe with Mango. Fast forward to September 11, and lead designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta reunited with J.Crew for an "unpretentious" collection that looks fresh from a '90s catalog. Are you ready for an Eckhaus Latta Fall, too?

On the second day of New York Fashion Week, hours before the bicoastal brand's Spring 2027 show, the J.Crew x Eckhaus Latta collaboration welcomed shoppers into a world of whimsical colors, minimalist silhouettes, and autumnal staples from J.Crew's archives. "The inspiration for us was really J.Crew. It is an iconic American brand with a rich heritage," Eckhaus and Latta said in the press release. The longtime design duo "rummaged through a lot of [J.Crew] catalogs from the ’90s," searching for ways to give "clothes designed for how people actually live" the eccentric Eckhaus Latta twist.

To accompany the time-traveling collection, with J.Crew's best-selling Barn Jacket and Rollneck Sweater at the helm, photographer Luna Conte created a catalog-worthy campaign that "brings the creative tension between the brands to life through a house party where everyone is invited," per the press release.

Models traded the runway for the intimate corners of an eclectic house, where brushed, striped, and marled knitwear felt "unmistakably J.Crew, but unexpected enough to make you look twice," J.Crew's creative director of women's Olympia Gayot said in a statement.

The new Rollneck, for example, reintroduces the tubular collar and ribbed cuffs that have been around since 1988. However, similar to the Rollneck that Eckhaus Latta designed for the NYFW collaboration early in the year, unbalanced panels of grape purple and olive green are woven into the charcoal gray wool.

While the sweater could've been on loan from an Eckhaus Latta fashion show, layering them over sky blue jeans is straight out of J.Crew's playbook. In fact, Emma Chamberlain, the face of the new Tiny Rollneck campaign, wore a striped style with almost identical denim.

The beauty of the J.Crew x Eckhaus Latta collaboration is that "there’s a person for all of it," Latta told Vogue, referencing the universality of the 27-piece line that includes sweaters, button-down and rugby shirts, barn and duffle jackets, and even chinos and jeans.

The brands also encourage shoppers to play around with mixing and matching. Commit to the memorable matching sets—ranging from striped twinset sweaters to a moss green cardigan and skirt—or ground them in relatability with goes-with-everything denim. "There’s this wealth of things to explore and riff off of, and then subvert and digest and play with in a way that feels us," Eckhaus told the publication. The most on-brand Eckhaus Latta contribution? Seeking out "gross" colors like "puke green."

The balaclava, brushed cashmere bandana, and knitted opera gloves could take a classic sweater-and-jeans set from minimalist to eye-catching in an instant. That's the Eckhaus Latta Way, after all: using effortless, yet unusual accessories to reimagine otherwise timeless attire.

"We wanted to preserve the experimentation, individuality and sense of community that make Eckhaus Latta so distinctive, along with the unpretentious New York energy they bring," Gayot said in the press release.

Between rarely missing a Knicks game during the 2026 NBA Finals and getting married last month to basketball star Karl-Anthony Towns, Jordyn Woods says, “I’m coming off of a really crazy time.” Meaning: She is taking New York Fashion Week as it comes. “Living in New York, it’s kind of just [like] getting dressed up to go in your backyard,” Woods, who moved to NYC from L.A. two years ago, tells Marie Claire. “If I was flying all the way here, I would've already had all my outfits together, but I don't know what I'm wearing this week at all.”

On September 10, Woods found out when she started Fashion Week like a true New Yorker: attending Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2027 runway show. Being the city's royalty right now (a title she earned after her “lucky” bag helped make Knicks history), she could have kicked off the season with any NYFW designer. But since Woods wanted her first Spring 2027 ‘fit to be “an ode to New York,” she chose an “effortless” look from Tommy Hilfiger, a label that sews the city’s Americana-cool aura into every preppy piece. “Tommy has been consistent with their brand since I was born, and so, just finding consistency and also being classic, that's what I'm looking for in my personal style,” she says.

So, when Woods arrived at the pre-NYFW fitting, she let Tommy Hilfiger take the reins. “I walked in…it was the only look on the [wardrobe rack]. I tried it on, it fit perfectly, and I went with it,” she says. “I didn't want to overthink it too much.” Her front row outfit was full of Tommy Hilfiger hallmarks—‘90s-style slim jeans and a vintage-looking raglan tee—but for her personal aesthetic, the espresso leather jacket was the most on-brand addition.

“I think it's about finding your identity within the brand that you're going [to NYFW] with,” she says, reflecting on her styling process for fashion shows. “Obviously, you want to support them and be on-trend with what they dress you in, but also it's about finding little pieces of yourself within the options that they have.”

Since her accessories—pointy burgundy pumps, bug-eye sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and the Leopard-Print Calf-Hair Micro Bag—were on loan from the label, “it's really up to me to have fun with the glam part,” she says. “As long as I’m feeling good about my makeup and hair, then to me, whatever I have on will really radiate and shine.” Woods worried that “too much hair could be overpowering.” So, when it came down to sitting down in the chair, she slicked it back into a half-up look.

While this wasn’t her first time working with the brand—she and her sister, Jodie Woods, attended a NYFW brunch with Tommy Hilfiger in 2023—it was a full-circle moment for the ‘90s baby. “[The brand’s overalls] are something I would always find myself in,” Woods says.

She says she is drawn to the label’s signature style vocabulary—prep, sportswear, Americana colors—and how they all live together. “I have an alter ego, so there's a side of me that also loves to dress preppy on occasion, [especially] going to the US Open,” she says. “Even when I go golfing, I love just the collared shirts, the skirts, the kind of understated clothes—so I can relate to all of [Tommy Hilfiger’s different identities].”

She didn’t just RSVP to the Spring 2027 showcase as a Tommy Hilfiger loyalist, but as a fellow designer, too. (The model owns Woods by Jordyn, a three-year-old fashion brand.) “Any time anyone throws together a show, I know how much time and effort and work goes into it,” she says, adding that seeing their “vision come to life [helps me feel] inspired to maybe one day have my own show.”

On day one of NYFW, Woods leaned into the Tommy Hilfiger look, but that doesn't mean she won’t dip into her own closet for future outfits. “I have a fall collection coming out [next month], so I definitely want to start wearing it and showcasing it,” she says.

As to whether we’ll see another lucky bag viral moment from her during NYFW? Instead of feeling pressured to give the good luck charm a sister, Woods tries “to focus on the present because I feel like the best things in life aren't forced,” she says. “As an entrepreneur, I would love to be able to create a moment like that again, but it’s not something you can force. It has to just happen.”

The Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week began on September 10, but Ralph Lauren, Cult Gaia, and Coach got the party started early—on the eve of the calendar's first official shows. While everyone from Viola Davis to Cynthia Erivo gathered to see Ralph Lauren's "irreverent take on romance," Elle Fanning and Storm Reid celebrated Coach's 85th birthday by serving some of the best celebrity outfits, not cake.

Getting a head start on Fashion Month VIP attendance, Cult Gaia gave Katie Holmes, Madelyn Cline, and supermodel Iman free rein in the dress code department. While Holmes put comfort first in a slouchy-chic T-shirt and ultra-pleated pants, Cline stacked a leather bomber jacket over matching micro shorts.

Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren hosted its celebrity guests—most of them dripping in rich neutrals—five miles south. Erivo wore a military jacket, Meghann Fahy perfected the Olsen twin-tuck in a turtleneck, and Davis's cashmere-and-leather look delivered the fall inspiration we needed.

Fast forward, and it's now the final day of New York Fashion Week. Henry Zankov made his debut as the creative director of Diane Von Furstenberg at New York Fashion Week S/S '27, and with it came the obvious wrap dresses, flowing fabrics, and gorgeous prints (lots of leopard!). But it also brought an unanticipated, but very fabulous manicure selection. Editorial nail artist Miss Pop is the genius behind what she’s dubbed the “sunglass nail trend,” and mark my words, it’s about to be one of the biggest fall looks for the fashion crowd.

It's a bit on the nose, but the whole idea is that nail polish is akin to sunglasses—slightly tinted, half-sheer, and the finishing touch to any fabulous outfit. “With the glass nail trend taking over, we wanted to give it a more sheer, modern twist,” says Miss Pop, who was in charge of ideating manicures for the show. “It’s effortlessly cool, like your favorite pair of sunglasses.”

Her inspiration came primarily from the collection's color palette. Think: rich browns, striking greens, and sheer fabrics. But the colors have less to do with the trend than the application. You really need two key components: a slightly sheer polish and a high-shine top coat. For this particular show, though, Miss Pop used the Essie Special Effects line, which is a range of holographic, duochrome, and light-reflecting pigments.

If you’re trying to recreate the look at home, it’s honestly pretty easy and can be accomplished in just two to three simple coats. To start, use just one layer of polish—this will ensure that your polish is slightly sheer and jelly-like. If you’re attempting to create a multi-dimensional shade, consider layering a complementary shade on top.

Then, the most important step is a high-shine top coat that delivers an uber-glassy finish. “If a cat eye nail is a shooting star, a glass nail is the Northern Lights,” Miss Pop previously told MC. “It has a ton more depth, thanks to the added glass-like gloss on the nail.”

Once inside the celebrity-beloved Boom Boom Room, Hathaway finished her first NYFW 'fit of the season with a Bulgari Serpenti Pendant Necklace, diamond bangles and earring studs, metallic gold sandals by Aquazzura, and a red-hot lip and manicure (a subtle take on the red-and-purple color combination trend).

Is the Bulgari bag an unusual choice for NYFW? Perhaps, but not for Hathaway. During The Odyssey press tour, she stepped outside her black-bag comfort zone with a moss green Valentino DeVain, a linen-and-leather Prada Bonnie, and more.

Maybe Fall 2026 fashion shows from Celine, Area, Balenciaga, and CFCL inspired Hathaway to add a purple purse to her roster. Violet, lavender, raspberry, periwinkle, and amethyst clutches painted the runways purple.

To finish her street style look, Holmes kept her accessories simple. She shade-matched gold hoop earrings to bangles that emerged from beneath her T-shirt's sleeve, and skipped a handbag altogether.

The sun hadn't set by the time Cult Gaia's creative director Jasmin Hekmat took her final bow. So, Holmes and Yarmosky attended a Target event, too, but not before a speedy outfit change (a regular occurrence for any NYFW guest).

To celebrate the launch of Target by Design (a two-day pop-up that Holmes's Target bag teased last week), she switched into more tailored attire: a white button-down, slim blue jeans, and tomato-red, python-tipped pumps from Isabel Marant.

New York Fashion Week is just getting started, but Holmes and Yarmosky are already the It couple to beat. While you await the next celebrity couple close-up (whether it captures them or another VIP pair), shop T-shirts and trousers inspired by Holmes's first NYFW 'fit, below.

Coach wouldn't accept any presents for its 85th anniversary—just the presence of New York Fashion Week attendees at the Spring 2027 runway show on September 9. Instead, creative director Stuart Vevers broke birthday tradition and gave his guests the best gift of Fashion Month so far: a new bag! Even better: Rather than debut the Turnlock Tote Bag on the runway and wait six months to release it, Coach made it instantly available for purchase.

Following the Empire Carryall for Fall 2025, Vevers has continued the tradition of debuting a new Coach purse on the runway. Once back-to-back Tabby Bags opened the fashion show at Pier 36, the brand-new Turnlock Tote graced the catwalk for the first time, accessorizing Look 3's leather tank top, pinstripe pants, and lived-in white sneakers. Not only was "Sandstone" the first shade show-goers saw, but it was also the first Turnlock Tote to sell out. (Don't worry, there are other styles available.)

"What matters to me is that we keep making fashion that becomes more beautiful through wear, experience, and love," Vevers said in the show notes.

With that in mind, the new bag—which blends the short straps of the Empire Carryall with the Haversack's turnlock trio—is "inspired by a Coach design from 1970," per the press release: "The Turnlock hardware [was] introduced by the house’s first lead designer, Bonnie Cashin."

The Turnlock Tote is available in two sizes: a smaller one for your wallet, phone, and maybe a book for $295, and a laptop-friendly one for $795. Both silhouettes scored spots in The Coach Originals collection, a growing list of vintage-inspired styles that include the Kisslock Barrel, the Kisslock Frame, and the Belted Ergo.

The spacious Turnlock Tote 40 appeared at the spring show in sandstone, black, and a rich shade of maple brown. The same minimal branding, brass hardware, and expandable gussets adorned every perfect-for-fall color that floated down the runway.

In true Coach style, not every Turnlock Tote immediately bounced from the runway to the brand's catalog. The spring show also introduced the silhouette in chocolatey suede with silver hardware, hand-rubbed metallic silver foil, and fresh-from-a-birthday-party confetti. You'll need an in with Vevers (or some patience until they hit stores) to turn one of the special-occasion Turnlock Totes into your back-to-school briefcase for fall.

As with any Coach fashion show, Vevers couldn't limit the new 53-piece collection to one It bag. The Tabby (one of the brand's most celebrity-beloved accessories) returned to the runway as the "collaged Tabby," with "vintage pouches," per the press release.

The shoulder style was joined by "The Inside-Out Brooklyn," a take on the Bella Hadid-beloved single-strap hobo bag that put its internal construction on display.

Between launching the viral Book Bag Charms, styling basketball stars for the WNBA Draft, and now debuting (what could be) another best-selling bag, the Coach takeover is still in full swing. Just earlier this year, the label reclaimed its rightful place on fashion search engine Lyst's Q2 2026 "Hottest Brands" roster.

All that to say? Don't wait to treat yourself to the Turnlock Tote. As soon as it earns an endorsement from brand ambassadors Elle Fanning or Storm Reid (who were at the show), it could disappear from shelves faster than you can say "Turnlock Tote."

Shop Other Coach Bags Beloved by 'Marie Claire' Editors

Name any pre- or post-runway show emergency that editors might face at New York Fashion Week—blisters, a broken umbrella, or a dying phone battery—and you'll find the solution at your local Target. This season, however, before Katie Holmes (a New Yorker with season tickets to Michael Kors, Ulla Johnson, Fforme, and more) added Target to her NYFW route, she discovered a new addition to her style survival kit: a limited-edition shopping bag from the retailer, designed by Public School New York in time for the Spring 2027 showcases.

A few days before Fashion Month festivities began, Katie Holmes was spotted with a then-mysterious Target tote on her shoulder. With its canvas bullseye-branded body and tomato-red tint, this wasn't the retailer's $0.99 reusable style. And the Dawson's Creek star didn't style it as such, either.

Awakening her affinity for big red bags, Holmes paired it with a white button-down, blue jeans, and grommeted Mary Jane shoes that let the color trend do all the talking.

Turns out, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the design duo behind Public School New York, created Holmes's carry-all for Target by Design event. The two-day celebration will take place in New York City on Sept. 10 and 11 and highlight "reinterpretations of the Target bag by leading and emerging creative voices," per the press release.

The New York City-based brand that returned to NYFW this year after a seven-year hiatus wasn't alone in twisting the storied Target sling into an It bag. Holmes's fellow New York style setters like Venus Williams and Chloë Sevigny designed their takes on Target totes, too.

Perhaps inspired by the style tournament still happening at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Williams layered black athlete-approved netting over the brand's white bullseye logo.

Meanwhile, Sevigny showcased Target's iconic emblem on the bottom of a circular red purse with bead detailing.

How can you score Holmes's Target tote (or any of the other ones)? Unfortunately, you can't throw it onto the conveyor belt right before checking out. Instead, you'll have to enter for a chance to win one of the limited-edition Public School New York's bags on Target's Instagram.

Holmes likely didn't have to go through any of those hoops to add the canvas style to her handbag collection. Being a devoted Target shopper since at least 2014—and RSVP'ing "yes" to brand events over the years—was enough to get her off the waitlist.

Now, for those who aren't Holmes or one of the ten lucky winners, might I suggest shopping one of Target's more accessible collaborations? This year, the department store partnered with Hollister, LoveShackFancy, Roller Rabbit, and most recently, the New York-based brand Rosie Assoulin.

So, while you manifest an in-store sighting of Holmes's Target bag, treat yourself to a matching set (or two) from the Target x Rosie Assoulin collection. They're still ripe for the shopping—and under $50.

Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows that, style-wise, this was the summer of tiny tops and big shorts. And I see no reason to throw away that formula now! In fact, I’m going to cold-proof it with cropped sweaters and wide-leg trousers.

Sport Mode, But Make It Elevated

The US Open always coincides with New York Fashion Week, so tennis style is top of mind. I’m particularly obsessed with Polo Ralph Lauren’s collection for the occasion, but I generally love the idea of mixing athletic gear and dressier accessories as well.

Statement Jeans + a Plain T-Shirt

Back in my early editor days, when I couldn’t afford to spend a lot of money on clothes, my low-effort, high-impact styling trick was what we liked to call a party pant and a minimalist top. I still fall back on it because tbh, it’s just that easy!

Purple + Pink + Chartreuse

Another fashion week styling trick I loved in my early editor days was colorblocking. You couldn’t throw an invite without hitting an editor who (undoubtedly inspired by Jenna Lyons) looked like they rolled out of a Crayola box (complimentary). This color combo feels fresh and impactful. I can’t wait to give it a shot.

Neither Jennifer Lopez nor I have RSVP'd "yes" to Copenhagen Fashion Week yet. That's not to say we aren't watching the street style scene, waiting for the next Scandi-tested trend to shop. This weekend, while I sampled Bermuda shorts, Lopez looked straight off a Scandinavian Airlines flight in the white T-shirt alt that took over Denmark's capital last week: a lacy eyelet top. What's more, her Free People style is still available for purchase and retails for less than $50.

Longtime J.Lo fans know she usually heads to the Hamptons in August. This year, her go-to lightweight linen looks, airy maxi skirts, and raffia accessories appeared in California. For an afternoon stroll through the Malibu Country Market, Lopez styled the $48 Darling Dreams Cami from one of her go-to retailers for laid-back summer looks. Thanks to the style's pleated cotton poplin and scalloped lace trim, the look nailed CPHFW's leading shirt trend.

Continuing the wallet-friendly theme of Lopez's Sunday look, she paired the cami with LoveShackFancy's $295 light blue cover-up, which she wore as a semi-sheer maxi skirt. The tiered, ankle-sweeping cotton skirt doubled down on the romantic look with a smocked waistband and a peachy floral print.

The New York-based label, known for its summer dresses, isn't new to Lopez's travel rotation, either. The "Let's Get Loud" singer previously wore the label on trips to the Hamptons in 2021 and 2024 and, just last month, in Rome.

She accessorized the look with oversized sunglasses and a sold-out Valentino bag.

Similar boho-chic styles dominated the step-and-repeats outside CPHFW fêtes. Some show-goers even played with lace lining and cotton poplin cut-outs the Jennifer Lopez Way.

It didn't take this white top trend long to resurface beyond the confines of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Now that it landed in L.A., it's only a matter of time before shoppers kick white T-shirts to the curb. To partake in the end-of-summer trend, shop the lacy tops below.

Shop White Lace Tops Inspired by Jennifer Lopez

Last year, guests at Copenhagen Fashion Week inspired everyone from Jennifer Lawrence to Zendaya to test the Bermuda shorts trend. Now that celebrities are following their lead, Scandi It girls are flooding Copenhagen's street style circuit with even bolder iterations of the look.

CPHFW brand standouts like Baum und Pferdgarten, Herskind, and By Malene Birger brought Bermuda shorts back for Spring/Summer 2027. That's not to say attendees outside the runway shows are saving the knee-length bottoms for next year. Where designers debuted go-with-everything Bermudas in various neutrals, fashion people made a case for the summer staple in a more maximalist POV.

To put it plainly, if Alexa Chung's army green Bermuda shorts seemed like a novelty to you last month, prepare to have your mind blown by leather, snakeskin, and sequin styles.

From a silhouette standpoint, Bermuda shorts are still the baggy, wide-leg, calf-brushing bottoms beloved by Demi Moore, Salma Hayek, Lindsay Lohan, and more. However, much like Loewe, Dries Van Noten, Celine, and Bottega Veneta did during the Spring 2026 season, CPHFW guests are reinventing them with croc-embossed, track short-adjacent, and dark denim versions.

Trading trousers for cropped counterparts, CPHFW show-goers are living their effortlessly cool fashion dreams to the fullest. One attendee even sampled summer trend-maxxing with track-striped snakeskin shorts (yes, track-striped and snake-print) from Adidas, jelly flip-flops, and an asymmetrical white T-shirt.

Whether they're wearing Canadian tuxedos or leather co-ords, Bermuda short matching sets (a Scandi aesthetic signature) are also becoming a mainstay in Denmark's capital.

For a surprisingly straightforward and longstanding shape, Bermuda shorts are still evolving. Luckily for fans of the trendy trousers alt, CPHFW isn't over yet. While you await the next twist on a trend, shop Marie Claire-approved options below.

In recent seasons, Copenhagen Fashion Week—the "happiest fashion week on earth," as some would call it—has earned the reputation of being a breeding ground for whimsical trends. Playful looks, like bag charms—mixed prints, beaded bags, and crochet skull caps— thrive there, blossoming from micro to macro popularity in a matter of days.

This week, CPHFW fans have been patiently waiting for yet another delightful new trend to emerge and inform our shopping habits for the months ahead. And though we're only two days into the current season—which runs from August 3 to 7—I feel confident in declaring the first breakout trend of the Spring/Summer 2027 run.

A natural evolution of the lace wrap-skirt trend—one of Scandinavia's most popular looks of the moment—eyelet blouses have officially overtaken the CPHFW scene. Where stylish guests would once reach for ribbed tank tops, white button-downs, or a simple oversized T-shirt, they're now choosing summer tops with a bit more romance.

Think: lace crop tops with statement sleeves, cape blouses with scalloped trimming, and eyelet tanks with asymmetrical hems.

The delicate fabric adds an inherently vintage-inspired feel to even the most mundane of basics. But what they're most useful for is statement layering—adding additional interest to already standout pieces. Satin bloomers, maxi skirts, and barrel-leg jeans, for example, all hold their own next to the retro-adjacent fashion trend.

Thus far, gangs of well-dressed show-goers have worn laser-cut, eyelet, and lace blouses at parties and runway shows for brands ranging from Modström and OpéraSPORT to Copenhagen Fashion Week darling, Ganni. And with events from Collina Strada, Asics, and Levi's still to come, it's a mathematical certainty that more are soon to come.
