When Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor swore Kamala Harris into office just before noon today, it marked a historical win we've long been waiting for: Harris became the first female, Black, and South Asian vice president of the United States of America.

The triumphal moment couldn't come soon enough. With the past year riddled with destruction and chaos, despair and injustice, today starts a new, bright chapter for American democracy. And this moment isn't just a victory for Vice President Kamala Harris (man, it feels good to finally type that!), but for women, specifically women of color, nationwide. Across the country, we celebrate Vice President Harris's win by wearing pearls, by seizing the streets with pots, pans, and cheers, and by sharing our excitement loud and proud all over the Internet. Here, we've rounded up some some Twitter reactions to the news.

    In short, people were PSYCHED.

What a moment for our country and for women of color in particular. The first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, administers the oath of office to the Vice President Kamala Harris, the first black, South Asian, and woman to hold this office.January 20, 2021

Kamala Harris her husband come out... This is a huge moment for women. A huge moment for men as a man will become the Second Gentleman. She will take the oath of office from Justice Sotomayor, the first Latino on the Supreme Court. For me, as a woman, this is deeply emotional.January 20, 2021

Vice President @KamalaHarris’ swearing-in is historic, and while she may be the first woman VP, I know she certainly won’t be the last. What an incredibly proud moment for our country. #Inauguration2021 #InaugurationDay pic.twitter.com/jYy8a5D3v8January 20, 2021

The sun is out because we finally have a woman VP in America.January 20, 2021

And for some, there were not even words. Just feelings.

    CryingJanuary 20, 2021

Not even a mispronunciation of the VP's name can bring us down:

Not even a mispronunciation can stop me from sobbingJanuary 20, 2021

    But Sotomayor mispronounced Kamala's name!January 20, 2021

    VICE PRESIDENT.PS It's Kamala!!!! "Comma-la, like the punctuation mark," as @KamalaHarris says. #InaugurationDay https://t.co/ZnZh1VpdOeJanuary 20, 2021
