For most of us, Spring is a time to get to the beach, but in Park City, Utah, the first blooms of the year means loads of fresh powder, a quieter time after the annual Sundance Film Festival, and tons of options for good eating and entertainment. While the West Coast has a long list of ski towns to choose from, Park City has a unique dose of history as a silver mining town—in fact, it brought George Hearst (father of William Randolph Hearst) to the area. There's no more silver, but Park City still has a magical mountain backdrop and a commitment to sustainability— working towards 100% renewable electricity by the year 2032. Grab an Epic Day Pass or sign up for a lesson to hone your skills. For culture time, grab tickets to the film festival, peruse the art galleries in town, and take in live music and dancing at The Egyptian Theatre.
Lean Into That Après-Ski Time
Lunch:
If you find yourself in town, head over to High West Distillery on the main drag. Grab a hot cider spiked with whisky and hang around the outdoor fire pit while you wait for your table. Alternatively, book an educational whisky tour and lunch at High West Distillery’s operating center about 20 minutes outside of town.
Happy Hour:
For a buzzy, yet sophisticated atmosphere head over to Aprés Pendry for live music, seasonal cocktails and nibbles like fondue and oysters. Then, visit The Umbrella Bar at Canyon Village for some wings and beer. Alternatively, take the town lift to Main Street and hang out at the legendary No Name Saloon decked out with antlers and vintage ski memorabilia.
Dinner:
Your tastebuds will be blown away at Kita, a Japanese grill style restaurant with the options to eat indoors, bar side, or al fresco when the spring weather permits. For starters, order a sampling of sushi and the seared octopus followed by the dry aged New York strip. While trying out new recipes, the chef is known to send out innovative new dishes to savor.
For another great meal, snag a table in the lounge area at The Farm for laid back ski lodge vibes in Canyons Village. Feast on house made cheeses, shishito peppers (odds are that one out of seven will make you sweat), duck and wild mushroom cannelloni, and wash it all down with one of the award-winning wines from the in-house wine cellar.
Pizza and arcade game lovers can head over to Disco Pizza for a full pie, pastas, handmade milkshakes, and curated cocktails.
