It's no surprise that interior designer couple Jeremiah Brent and Nate Berkus have a stunning home library. In Marie Claire’s latest episode of Shelf Portrait—in which celebrities, influencers, and famous bookworms show off their personal libraries—Brent gave us a tour of his and his husband's impressive book collection, housed in 30-foot shelves in their chic West Village townhome.

In the video, Brent admits it's hard to narrow down his favorite books; if he had to choose he'd start with James Brown's James Brown Handbook because the author holds a special place in his heart. Brent also loves Axel Vervoordt's The Story of Style, which highlights Vervoordt's aesthetic influences.

Brent also adores David Douglas Duncan's Goodbye Picasso which features personal letters to and from the artist, as well as Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist. (Brent has read it five times and says the book helped him grapple with his fears of coming out.) The interior designer also shared Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson's And Tango Makes Three which was instrumental in introducing the concept of surrogacy to his children.

Watch Brent's full Shelf Portrait video, above, and then order some of his favorite books for yourself (or head to the West Village's Three Lives like Brent recommends). You can also catch Brent in The Nate Jeremiah Home Project which premieres on HGTV on October 5.
