Joanne’s indecision around converting to Judaism is the central tension of the first two seasons of Nobody Wants This. The season 2 finale, “When Noah Met Joanne,” seems to finally provide the central couple some resolution by suggesting that she’ll agree to convert.

But before Joanne reaches that clarity, she spends the season mostly stuck in stasis, content to remain an atheist, even while her mother (Stephanie Faracy) forges her own conversion path. It’s Noah’s hesitation to move in with her that forces Joanne to realize that religion will always be a sticking point in their relationship. Either she converts, or they have to walk away from each other—and the end of the season seems to be steering toward the latter. But a conversation with Noah’s sister-in-law, Esther (Jackie Tohn), illuminates something for Joanne: She’s overthinking the entire thing. “I feel like you have this idea of being Jewish that’s so much more complicated than it actually is,” Esther tells her, pointing out that some of her personality traits, family values, and lifestyle would fit in with aspects of the faith.

The pep talk works, and Joanne runs out the door to find Noah, who has had his own realization about what losing Joanne would mean to him. He declares that he doesn’t care whether she’s Jewish or not, just that they’re soulmates that should be together. Before passionately kissing each other, Joanne says three words to him that absolve him of any rushed promises: “You’re in luck.”

While Noah and Joanne’s love story ends on a high note, the same can’t be said for two of the other central relationships in the series. Esther’s long-simmering discontent in her marriage to Sasha (Timothy Simons) finally blows up, and she asks for a separation. She clarifies that it’s something within her that’s driving her unhappiness, but that she can’t fix it while they’re still together. Venting to Morgan later, Sasha says he’ll wait for her while she figures out what she wants. “If this is for life, I’ve gotta ride with her, you know?” he says in one of the purest displays of love on this show.

Morgan (Justine Lupe) also ends the season uncoupled. Despite the finale taking place at her engagement party on the rooftop of the Academy Museum, she ends her relationship with her therapist, Dr. Andy (Arian Moayed), earlier in the episode. Her breakup is a moment of growth for a character who hadn’t been honest with herself and admitted to rushing into this relationship—and it paves the way for more single shenanigans to fuel both their podcast and a potential third season of the show. And, hey, while the stars have denied anything romantic between Sasha and Morgan, both of them being ostensibly single at the end of season 2 opens the door for them to explore their connection further in future seasons.

Everybody wants more Nobody Wants This, and Netflix is delivering! Just under two weeks after the show returned for its second season, the streamer announced its season 3 renewal, as reported by Deadline.

It makes sense that the show was renewed quickly (as it was after the debut installment): The comedy is one of Netflix's most popular hits. According to Deadline, it earned over 18 million views worldwide in the 12 days since the season 2 premiere, shooting straight to the No. 1 most-watched English shows list on the streaming service.

To celebrate the news, Netflix posted a wholesome clip on Instagram of Kristen Bell telling her costars—including Adam Brody, Timothy Simons, Jackie Tohn (and her furry friend), and Justine Lupe (getting her makeup done)—the good news over FaceTime. She also informs series creator Erin Foster, who reminds her that she was the one to tell her to begin with...and should be the one to inform the cast. Whoops! But we get the excitement!

The team behind the series also shared statements, per Deadline. "I couldn’t be more excited to head into a third season of this show," creator Erin Foster said. "It is a privilege to be able to write about my favorite couple on a scale like this. As long as it doesn’t take too much time away from me watching reality TV at night, I’ll do it for as long as they want me to!"

Nobody Wants This fans, the wait is almost over. Netflix has confirmed that season 3 will arrive on our screens on October 22, 2026. The new episodes are set to drop exactly a year after season 2's sweet ending.

In honor of the release-date reveal, Foster, Konner, and Kaplan teased the frothy new installment. "We wanted to make sure that this couple is still fun and flirty with each other," Foster said in a press release. "That’s the dynamic we’re looking to emulate in the show — that once you get settled in, it doesn’t have to stop being fun. We wanted this couple to be moving in forward motion together and have all these big romantic moments you want to see. Who are the new cast members in 'Nobody Wants This' season 3?

Get ready for a lot of stars to pop up in Nobody Wants This season 3. In early April, Netflix announced nine(!) stars joining its hit comedy. Of those new additions, three will be recurring characters populating Joanne's conversion class. Broadway star and Girls alum Andrew Rannells (Elijah himself!) will play Joanne's "nemesis" Sebastien, Keyla Monterroso Mejia's Amber will be a single woman "obsessed with finding a Jewish husband," and comedy legend Sarah Silverman will play Rabbi Eden, an Intro to Judaism teacher and "a supportive presence for Joanne and Noah."

There's a fun Easter egg among the six remaining guest roles. The show's creator, Erin Foster, will jump in front of the camera to play Nicole, "a terminally single, chaotic, and somewhat messy person...She’s Joanne if everything had gone wrong in her life," per Tudum.

Rounding out the guest cast are Avan Jogia (56 Days, Victorious) as Travis, a "guy's guy" who irks Joanne; Poorna Jagannathan (Deli Boys, Never Have I Ever) as Eleanor, "Sebastien’s brassy and biting aunt;" Sadie Sandler (You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah) as Denise, Morgan's new psychic; Stephanie Koenig (The English Teacher) as Poppy, an "incredibly upbeat woman" who dates Sasha; and Steven Weber (Wings) as Julian, a cool divorced dad.

What will 'Nobody Wants This' season 3 be about?

As the second season ends with the central characters in varying modes of coupling, a third season will have to contend with the decisions they made about their relationships in the season 2 finale. Noah and Joanne will likely start the process of her conversion, uncovering the bumps that might accompany such a large life change. Esther’s arc will likely focus on her decision to separate from Sasha and explore who she is beyond a wife and mom. Hopefully, that means Sasha will have his own moments of discovery, healing, and growth, as well. And we’d expect that Morgan, newly back on the dating scene, will allow herself to be vulnerable again while exploring her options—perhaps with Sasha.
