There’s a subtle chill in the air, crisp leaves are slowly piling up on city sidewalks, and the sun is beginning to set earlier in the day. Suddenly, the concept of gauzy linen pants, barely-there sandals, and shoreside dresses feels increasingly irrelevant. Yes, that’s right, we’re transitioning into autumn. And as such, it’s officially time to curate our cold-weather wardrobes. So, what better way to start than by filling our closets with the most coveted Fall 2026 denim trends?

While perusing the latest runways for inspiration, I noticed that many designers embraced classic denim styles with an enduring appeal. Totême enhanced its minimalist collection with timeless cigarette jeans, Dries van Noten co-signed the denim maxi skirt agenda, and Isabel Marant proved that light-wash jeans pair exceptionally well with sweaters and wool coats. Meanwhile, other labels ditched pared-down pieces for statement-making alternatives. Conner Ives showcased embellished jeans alongside fur-trimmed robes, and Acne Studios styled distressed denim bottoms with knee-high boots.

Whether your personal style skews simple or over-the-top, the best Fall 2026 denim trends suit all tastes. Ahead, shop each look, from affordable brands like Reformation to designer labels such as Ulla Johnson.

Although cigarette jeans have retro roots, designers have demonstrated that the slim-fitting style is also a contemporary wardrobe staple. For the Fall 2026 season, designers offered modern interpretations of the cylindrical silhouette that tapers around the ankle. Names like Kallmeyer, Totême, and Gucci coordinated the vintage look with padded blazers, snug sweaters, and fur stoles, respectively.

For those moments when you don’t feel like slipping into a pair of rigid jeans, reach for a denim skirt instead. Dries van Noten and 7 for All Mankind styled floor-sweeping versions, while Sacai presented shorter alternatives with mid-length hemlines. Enhance your outfit with clean button-downs and sumptuous knit tops, or keep things casual with a matching denim jacket.
