I am so excited to start clearing out my wardrobe. It's time to make way for fresh spring fashion! Now that I live in Los Angeles, I want my new-season style to still have a strong minimalist energy, but with retro, glamorous elements.

That means opting for brands that emphasize clean silhouettes in trendier shades like butter yellow and olive green, alongside other understated neutrals. Think: Prada, Miu Miu, and Jil Sander. I'm also in love with layering right now—the kind that works for balmy west coast temperatures, that is. Cue lots of trench coats, cropped silhouettes, and lighter tones all around. The retro cues come courtesy of oversized, almost buggy, sunglasses, which are my favorite silhouette at the moment.

Ahead, I break down the four major spring trends that have caught my eye for spring 2026. If you, too, are in the midst of spring cleaning your wardrobe, let these be your starting point for putting together a new selection.

Nothing welcomes a new season more than a new pair of fresh, dramatic sunglasses. Ever since moving from New York to Los Angeles, my collection has increased at an breakneack pace. I have been loving the round, huge sunglasses coming down the runways at brands like Michael Rider-era Celine, and on the digital pages of Phoebe Philo’s website. I think there is so much room to play with the category. They can be the perfect element to add to an otherwise very simple look. Plus, they're perfect for more sunshine!

    Fresh Layers

This goes without saying: long coats, heavy layers, and thick sweaters are officially "out." I am going to opt for a lot of shorter jackets as I wait for the weather to warm up, especially ones in playful prints, colors, or fabrics.

Pairing a fun jacket with a pair of vintage Levi's is my favorite way to feel a bit more dressed up but also comfortable and weather-appropriate. Trench coats will also be a must! April showers bring May flowers, after all.

    Shades of Green

There is something about olive green that I’m completely obsessing over. It’s a color that immediately captivates, yet soothes at the same time. I love a monochromatic look, but a simple layer will do, too. Prada and Miu Miu have leaned into these types of shades recently, and J.Crew does an incredible set, too. If you’re usually a neutral girl (guilty), an on-theme accessory is the easiest way to dip into the color family—it adds just enough interest without feeling like a departure from how you would normally dress.

    Lots of Light Hues

I’m paying close attention to texture this season. As my pieces become lighter, fabric becomes everything. So, I look for crisp cottons, linens, soft suedes, and lightweight wools that still hold their shape—pieces that feel as good as they look. It’s less about bold statements and more about subtle richness: how something drapes, how it catches the light, how it layers without adding weight. I'm doing less thinking and relying more on instinct as I shop—spring should feel light, and that’s exactly how I want getting dressed to feel.
