Prime Day can get a bad rap. Mention Amazon's flagship sale, and most people picture carts filled with random items they never planned on buying in the first place. Yes, it's tempting to hop on every single item you see marked down—but the smartest way to shop Prime Day is to buy pieces you'll return to time and time again. That's my advice to friends this year: hone in on what you actually need and will wear repeatedly, rather than a one-time statement piece.
