Since it premiered in 2020, Bridgerton has transported viewers to a world of romance and historical finery. In May 2024, the Regency era smash hit series returned to Netflix for its third season, which saw longtime friends Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) step into the main romance storyline (with Kanthony not too far behind them). There was friends-to-lovers tension, multiple subplots with the rest of the Bridgerton cast (maybe too many), and a masterful glow up of Penelope's Regency-era fashion, as well as her hair and makeup looks. Though Pen and Colin eventually found their happily-ever-after by the end of eight episodes, fans were left languishing, facing another multi-year hiatus between seasons.

Fret not, gentle readers: Bridgerton season 4 was already guaranteed before season 3 even arrived. Netflix is known to keep fans updated as an upcoming Bridgerton season is made, from highly-anticipated castings to updates from set, to plenty of first-look images and teasers. Now that the first half of Bridgerton season 4 is out on Netflix, read on for every update and clue on how the season will conclude in Bridgerton season 4, part 2 below.

Has 'Bridgerton' been renewed for a fourth season?

Yes! The Netflix romance series was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 in April 2021, while season 2 was still in production. As for the future of the series, executive producer Shonda Rhimes has hinted that the series could go on for as long as seven seasons (though we're hoping for eight, as there are eight novels in Julia Quinn's book series).

“I do have a very specific plan of where we go each season—which one is which,” Rhimes told Variety in a May 2024 interview. “Because you really have to start seeding in the other siblings, and what’s going on with them, to push them to the next season. We’ve really talked about it through, I think, season 6 or maybe 7.”

When will 'Bridgerton' season 4 come out?

Dearest readers, Bridgerton season 4 will premiere in two parts: The first batch of episodes will arrive on Thursday, January 29, 2026, and the second half will drop on Thursday, February 26. Netflix announced the premiere dates when it shared a first-look teaser in mid-October 2025.

The sultry, Cinderella-inspired clip shows this season's focus, Benedict (Luke Thompson), as he crosses paths with a beauty in a silver-blue mask at a masquerade ball. "With each passing season, one is known to experience plenty of ups and downs. So then we must ask ourselves, do we rise to the occasion?" Lady Whistledown's voiceover says, as the mysterious woman loses one of her gloves. "As always, time and this author will tell."

This time around, production moved a bit quicker on the romance hit, which typically releases every two years. (Season 3 premiered in May and June 2024.) Filming began on the upcoming episodes in September 2024, and during production, Netflix shared wholesome updates to keep fans's hearts aflutter, including a first-look photo of the season's leads, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, and a behind-the-scenes look at several cast members goofing off and having fun between scenes, before filming wrapped in May 2025.

Which Julia Quinn book will 'Bridgerton' season 4 be based on?

Bridgerton season 4 will follow Benedict's love story. After hinting in the season 3 finale, Netflix confirmed on July 23, 2024, that Luke Thompson will step into the leading role for the upcoming season, as Bridgerton adapts the novel An Offer From a Gentleman. The streamer announced the news along with a video of Thompson preparing for a costume fitting, involving a suit for a masquerade ball.

For those still making their way through the books, An Offer From a Gentleman sees Benedict entranced by a mysterious woman attending his mother's masquerade ball. The woman in question is Sophie Beckett, an earl's daughter-turned-servant for her wicked stepmother, who must flee the ball before midnight. (Yes, a la Cinderella.) Benedict loses his dream girl, but soon he also becomes captivated by an oddly familiar maid.

When the season 4 story was confirmed, it ended years of speculation on whether the Netflix series would return to the original order of Quinn's books or continue to shake things up as the adaptation puts its spin on the beloved romance series. While season 3 confirmed that later books will feature some major changes (especially Francesca's story from When He Was Wicked), it appears that season 4 will be heavily based on the second-eldest Bridgerton brother's romance.

Who will be in the cast of 'Bridgerton' season 4?

Ladies and gentlemen, we officially have our Sophie Beckett...or should we say, Sophie Baek! On August 16, 2024, Variety reported that Korean-Australian actress Yerin Ha has been cast as Benedict's love interest, also known as the "Lady in Silver." The star will also be Bridgerton's first lead of East Asian descent.

Ha is best known to U.S. audiences for playing Kwan Ha in both seasons of Paramount+'s Halo television series. She's also part of another mega-popular franchise, as she's among the cast of Max's Dune: Prophecy.

In a September 2024 interview with Shondaland, Ha shared her thoughts on joining the Bridgerton cast. "I don’t think there are enough words in the dictionary to describe what it’s like joining the family, but I’m just very, very grateful, and everyone’s been so welcoming with open arms. It’s been a lovely experience so far."

Ha shared more details about her character in a March 2025 interview with WWD, where the actress revealed that season 4 is entering the final leg of filming. "It’s just been so wonderful, and work has never felt like work. It’s just felt like playtime. It’s been so nice," she said, adding that she already has a favorite costume. "The Silver Masquerade costume is probably the most extravagant because otherwise I’m in maid costumes and I’m always scrubbing floors, ironing socks and napkins and all this kind of stuff."

Ha also opened up about the lessons she's learned from her character. "Sometimes in love, you can lose part of yourself. And I think that’s what I love so much about Sophie, and she teaches me a lot actually, as well, about 'don’t change yourself for anyone,'" she said. "Stay true to your lane and surround yourself with people that will respect you at the same time."

On September 16, 2024, Netflix revealed three additional new cast members joining season 4. Katie Leung, best known for playing Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, will portray Sophie's employer, Lady Araminta Gun. Per a character description from Tudum: "Twice married and twice widowed, Araminta has two girls debuting on the marriage mart this season and is feeling the pressure to get at least one of them married off. Fabulous, discerning, and blunt, Araminta does not respond well when anything—or anyone—threatens her standing in society."

As for those two girls, Michelle Mao will play Araminta's eldest daughter, Rosamund Li, described as "beautiful, vain, and eager to please her mother." She's said to set her sights on Benedict for her husband. Meanwhile, Isabella Wei will play Posy Li, Rosamund's "much kinder" younger sister, whose "chatty, overly friendly demeanor often has her putting her foot in her mouth."

Other new supporting cast members joining the series include Oli Higginson as Footman John, Sophie Lamont as Celia, Geraldine Alexander as Mrs. Wilson, and Gracie McGonigal as Hazel, who will all play staff in Lady Araminta's household. McGonigal, a 22-year-old West End actress, is the first cast member on Bridgerton with a congenital limb deficiency.

Sophie and Benedict's love story isn't the only romance in season 4: Part 2 will feature even more of Alice (Emma Naomi) and Will Mondrich (Martins Imhangbe).

Which cast members are returning for 'Bridgerton' season 4?

Netflix has also confirmed which of Bridgerton's recurring cast members will return for season 4. First things first, Polin will be back! Speaking to TheWrap, Nicola Coughlan confirmed that she and Luke Newton will return for the upcoming season, keeping the show's tradition of bringing back (at least one member of) each season's prior couple to help along the next.

Coughlan told the outlet, “They’ve told us we’re back for Season 4, which is super lovely…It’ll be exciting. [We’ll] pop back and have some fun for sure."

Other returning cast members include, of course, the Bridgertons: Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), and Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton). Hannah Dodd will also reprise her role as Francesca Stirling (née Bridgerton), with Victor Alli (John Stirling) and Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling) in tow. Also, Netflix has confirmed that Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma Bridgerton) will appear in season 4!

Rounding out the cast are Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury), Daniel Francis (Lord Marcus Anderson), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Julie Andrews (voice of Lady Whistledown), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), and Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich). Plus, Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich) and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley) have been upped to series regulars.

While most of the Bridgerton cast is set to return, season 1's central couple will likely not be featured in the new season. Regé-Jean Page (Simon, Duke of Hastings) has stood firm on his decision to part the series since 2021, most recently dodging questions about a possible cameo while promoting his film Black Bag in March 2025. Meanwhile, Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton) previously revealed that she hadn't been asked to return for season 4. As always, fingers crossed that the full Bridgerton clan will reunite for at least one scene before the show's end.

What is the plot of 'Bridgerton' season 4?

Netflix has provided an official logline: "The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball."

Beyond the logline, stars Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha have shared a little more insight into what fans can expect from the season. In a September 2024 interview with Shondaland, Thompson said, "I think the main thing we can expect is a really nice mix of fairy tale and reality. We’ve got this fairy-tale love story, yes, but it’s also got the Bridgerton element of trying to tether [that story] to some sort of reality as well."

Meanwhile, Ha added, "You can expect this emotional tug of war, this kind of push and pull between what their hearts desire and what society desires for them."

Is there a trailer for 'Bridgerton' season 4?

Dearest gentle reader, the trailer for Bridgerton season 4 is here! The video shows how perpectual bachelor Benedict, described as "the most notorious gentleman," is the talk of the ton this season. Though he has low expectations, he finds himself taken with Sophie, who's from a lower class and attends the ball in disguise. Though she turns down his request to dance by saying that she doesn't know how—though she's really in fear of being spotted on the dance floor—he sweeps her away outside, where he teaches her a few steps (and makes her swoon). "You’re the most intriguing person I’ve ever met," he says.

The clip teases fateful run-ins, Sophie struggling to keep her identity hidden, gorgeous gowns, and copious hook-ups, including a new fling for Lady Violet(!). We can't wait to watch all that and more very soon.

Is there a trailer for 'Bridgerton' season 4, part 2?

Days after the first half of Sophie and Benedict's complicated love story was released, Netflix shared a teaser for the upcoming season 4 conclusion. The clip shows the pair preparing for a steamy bath, setting the stage for a fan-favorite scene from the books. It's a nice, spoiler-free teaser for anyone who wants to go into Part 2 blind.

That's not all: A full-length season 4, part 2 trailer dropped just in time for Valentine's Day. It shows tension building among Benedict and his family, as they question whether he's ready to "risk everything" to continue pursuing Sophie. Tensions rise between him and Sophie, too—sexual ones, of course, but also their inability to stay apart from one another.

"Do you need something?" Sophie asks Benedict at one point, to which he responds, "No, I found it." Later, he adds, "I cannot love a maid, and yet, you have taken possession of me." It looks like we're in for a passionate final set of episodes—and we can't wait to take possession of them on February 26!

Aside from the trailers, Netflix also included a sneak peek at part 2 at the end of part 1's last episode. The clip includes the aftermath of Benedict's polarizing proposal, as Sophie gives him the cold shoulder and Will Mondrich explains to Benedict why she's upset. It also teases the return of new parents Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley), as well as the continued tension between Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, and a flash of characters seemingly dressed in mourning(?!). Safe to say, the fan theories are flying.
