The Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week began on September 10, but Ralph Lauren, Cult Gaia, and Coach got the party started early—on the eve of the calendar's first official shows. While everyone from Viola Davis to Cynthia Erivo gathered to see Ralph Lauren's "irreverent take on romance," Elle Fanning and Storm Reid celebrated Coach's 85th birthday by serving some of the best celebrity outfits, not cake.

Getting a head start on Fashion Month VIP attendance, Cult Gaia gave Katie Holmes, Madelyn Cline, and supermodel Iman free rein in the dress code department. While Holmes put comfort first in a slouchy-chic T-shirt and ultra-pleated pants, Cline stacked a leather bomber jacket over matching micro shorts.

Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren hosted its celebrity guests—most of them dripping in rich neutrals—five miles south. Erivo wore a military jacket, Meghann Fahy perfected the Olsen twin-tuck in a turtleneck, and Davis's cashmere-and-leather look delivered the fall inspiration we needed.

Fast forward, and it's now the final day of New York Fashion Week. Not only did the new artistic director Henry Zankov make his Diane Von Furstenberg debut days ago, but A-listers also formed a line around the block to support fellow fixtures of New York fashion (think: Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Ulla Johnson, Carolina Herrera, and more).

But don't worry, Marie Claire remains your eyes and ears on the ground for the best celebrity outfits at NYFW 2026 until Thom Browne's final bow on Sept. 15.

The Riverdale star's pearl earrings were the posh cherry on top.

This NYFW, celebrities aren't just dismissing the "no white after Labor Day" rule—they're actively protesting it. Case in point: Demi Moore's skirt set at the Magda Butrym show. Every element of her look—from the crochet turtleneck and oversized blazer to her sheer shoes—was completely colorless.

Katie Holmes and Cindy Crawford matched each other's '90s energy at Net-a-Porter's NYFW party, which celebrated the launch of Porter's September issue. Crawford (the magazine's cover star) styled a lace-trimmed camisole, a silk organza skirt, and a leather jacket with oversized hoop earrings and a statement watch. Meanwhile, Holmes kept it classic in a caped LBD and a leather top-handle tote.

Anderson wore a black-and-ivory look at Calvin Klein.

Calvin Klein's minimalist brand vocabulary had Anderson's name all over it on Sept. 11. She embraced the brand's signature less-is-more philosophy in a square-neck midi dress, pointy black pumps, and a matching clutch.

    Katie Holmes at Calvin Klein

Katie Holmes#039;s celebrity look at the Calvin Klein New York Fashion Week show

Holmes turned the Calvin Klein event into date night.

After making their debut at Cult Gaia early in the week, Holmes brought her rumored boyfriend, Jason Bard Yarmosky, to Calvin Klein. The tea-length hem on her cream-colored skirt (which seemed a few shades darker than her stark white Oxford shirt) shone a spotlight on her high-vamp flats.

    Emily Ratajkowski at Calvin Klein

Emily Ratajkowski#039;s celebrity look at the Calvin Klein New York Fashion Week show

Even after Labor Day, Emily Ratajkowski wore all-white Calvin Klein.

Emily Ratajkowski was another celebrity to publicly denounce the "no white after Labor Day" rule at Calvin Klein, wearing a semi-sheer turtleneck, leather trousers, and slim sandals.

    Teyana Taylor at Calvin Klein

Tate McRae doubled up on denim at Calvin Klein.

Tate McRae rang in Canadian Tuxedo season at Calvin Klein, where she buttoned a white-collar denim jacket over jeans in the same dark-wash shade. The pop star's chocolate brown clutch upped the outfit's '90s-style suave.

    Jordyn Woods at Michael Kors

Jordyn woods#039;s celebrity look at the Michael Kors New York Fashion Week show

Jordyn Woods's style risk paid off at Michael Kors.

For Jordyn Woods, New York Fashion Week began in Tommy Hilfiger's front row, wearing an "effortless" look that she told Marie Claire all about. A day later, she embraced her maximalist side in a feathery tank top, a black-and-white pencil skirt, and equally fuzzy footwear.

    Gabrielle Union at Michael Kors

Gabrielle Union#039;s celebrity look at the Michael Kors New York Fashion Week show

Gabrielle Union wore the same shade of red, twice.

A few hours before Taylor tested the red color trend, it made Gabrielle Union unmissable outside the Michael Kors venue. One tomato-tinted piece wasn't enough, so she layered a matching sweater over the shoulders of her knit maxi dress.

    Lisa Rinna at Michael Kors

Lisa Rinna#039;s celebrity look at the Michael Kors New York Fashion Week show

Lisa Rinna stole the show at Michael Kors.

Amanda Seyfried made a chartreuse top look effortless at Tory Burch.

    Lana Condor at Tommy Hilfiger

Lana Condor wore all three of Tommy Hilfiger's signature shades at NYFW.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Lana Condor limited the red color trend to the cardigan dangling from her shoulders. She finished her front-row 'fit with a white T-shirt, navy blue jacket, wide-leg jeans, and a white top-handle tote, all from Tommy Hilfiger.

    Natalia Bryant at Tommy Hilfiger

Elle Fanning arrived at the Coach show looking every bit a Hollywood star.

Elle Fanning's leopard-print coat, red leather skirt, and black beret (all from the New York brand's Resort 2027 collection) made her the best-dressed guest at Coach's 85th birthday party.

    Storm Reid at Coach

Storm Reid followed Fanning's lead and brought a Tabby Bag along.

Storm Reid sourced the same Resort 2027 collection from Coach, selecting a multicolored gingham mini dress to match her chestnut Tabby Bag.

    Viola Davis at Ralph Lauren

Viola Davis#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Viola Davis waved to fans before the Ralph Lauren show.

"I absolutely loved it," Viola Davis told USA Today following the Ralph Lauren showcase. Marie Claire editors said the same thing after photos emerged of her cable-knit sleeveless turtleneck, dark brown leather skirt, and matching knee-high boots.

    Rachel Brosnahan at Ralph Lauren

Rachel Brosnahan#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Cynthia Erivo said that "it always feels good" to reunite with Ralph Lauren knitwear. She wore a romantically gothic take on the military jacket trend with flared trousers and a perfectly Parisian beret. Here's hoping the Wicked actor takes it for another spin at Paris Fashion Week.

    Elizabeth Debicki at Ralph Lauren

Elizabeth Debicki#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Elizabeth Debicki wore caramel workwear from head-to-toe.

Elizabeth Debicki was one of the few of Ralph Lauren's famous attendees who didn't adhere to a dark romantic dress code. Her monochrome caramel co-ord, with its Oxford shirt, identical suit tie, trench coat, and pleated trousers, stood out on the sidewalk and the front row. The shade and silhouettes looked ready for a dressier in-office day, too.

    Meghann Fahy at Ralph Lauren

Meghann Fahy#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Meghann Fahy blended the darkest shades of black and brown at Ralph Lauren.

Meghann Fahy channeled the Olsen twin look by tucking her hair into a black turtleneck. She styled the high-neck top with a knee-length leather coat and brown bottoms. Between the iconic hair hack and the contrasting textures, The White Lotus actor didn't need any accessories.

    Ariana DeBose at Ralph Lauren

Ariana Debose#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Ariana DeBose looked classic at Ralph Lauren.

Ariana DeBose attended her fourth Ralph Lauren fashion show straight, but her sweater dress, leather trench coat, and slouchy knee-high boots were a non-tailored detour from the suits she usually wears in the front row.

    Eiza González at Ralph Lauren

Eiza Gonzalez#039;s celebrity look at the Spring/Summer 2027 season of New York Fashion Week

Eiza González channeled Ralph Lauren's affinity for equestrian attire.

Eiza Gonzàlez embraced the equestrian fashion trend the Ralph Lauren Way: by stacking a laced-up corset over a billowy black blouse, form-fitting jeans, and tall leather boots. The low-slung belt was the cherry on top of her outfit's horse-girl-chic cake.

    Katie Holmes at Cult Gaia

Holmes kept it casual at Cult Gaia.
