These Outfits Prove That Beachwear Belongs in Your Fall Wardrobe

So, allow me to demonstrate how to transform your beachwear beyond summer. As temperatures drop and we make our way into fall, you’ll find that some of your favorite shoreside pieces can be quite versatile.

Lightweight Scarves
Take a lightweight scarf, for instance. Lately, I’ve been wearing my cashmere-silk blend scarf from Chan Luu as a beach cover-up and a mini skirt. But come fall and winter, it’ll become a chic “third piece” to layer over a skirt or a pair of trousers. And, yes, sometimes I might even wear it around my neck—groundbreaking.
Crochet Ponchos
The crochet trend has been everywhere these past couple of summers. This Missoni poncho (a gem I found at a Toronto consignment store) has done the rounds beachside. But after pairing it with a feminine midi skirt, I realized that it can function well beyond any shore. Add a tee underneath and a blazer on top, and suddenly, you’ve got yourself an appropriate uniform for the creative workplace.
One-Piece Swimsuits
Your one-piece swimsuit can double as a bodysuit. Classic black is a no-brainer, but look to textured or printed swimwear to add visual interest to your outfits. Toteme’s smocked one-piece has been a go-to for me. Thankfully, it's long-torso friendly, and I love the Monarch butterfly colorway.
Did you play into Pucci Summer? I did, and I plan to layer those vibrant prints under cardigans and blazers into fall.
Mesh Flats
Finally, for those mesh shoes you bought last (or this?) summer, consider transitioning them into fall with a tonal sock. Even a white pair will work—yes, you can wear white after Labor Day.
